What was wrong with the original pump?
Did you tip the machine right back to refit pump?

The even older 1700/9300 series was possibly even worse, with the long exposed spiral elements round the front of the drum. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of those had some charred fluff all round the ceramic element supports and along the bottom lip of the heater support plate, and I saw several of those that had set on fire.
Possibly never became a major issued 30+ years ago due to small numbers sold in comparison to today.

That’s what I got but this is a longstanding customer of over 30 years and I am absolutely certain it was only last year I condemned his old machine???

Does this model even have such a device, had a quick look at the parts diagrams and couldn’t immediately identify one, although it was only a quick look. 🙂

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Aquarius DF62 will not take in water
There is a thermostat to control the advance of programme during wash but failure of this is not very common. A failed stat would not stop the machine from heating but a faulty heater, timer contacts failing or broken wiring in the door harness near the left hand hinge would.
The heater unit is extremely expensive and very difficult to change involving a major strip down.
Heater terminals can be tested by removing the right hand ( from front ) side panel, after removing the mains plug of course.

Yes, I do remember all of that Dave, especially the two big spring clips.
I also remember that it was easier to get the cabinet off than get it back on again, getting the lugs along the lower front edge to slot back in was awkward for someone of smaller stature like myself. 😀

I’m sure it will all come back to me once I start. 8) It is in a garage with plenty of room to work thankfully.

Well they might not be selling as many new ones at present. 😉

Hopefully someone who repairs these may know, there isn’t a barge pole long enough for me to go anywhere near one.

THESE are the only ones we have but these are for the Turkish made machines.
Yours might be one of the Chinese models. 🙁

I have a close relative who lives on the Fylde coast, one of her best friends was lucky to survive a fire attributed to one of these dryers.
He was on life support for a week and suffered 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} burns. That is why I get annoyed at crass, idiotic statements such as.
‘Let’s just stick to the subject of this safety recall and be thankful of all appliance weaknesses as that’s what keeps us in business. Long may crappy products dominate and recalls come in abundance.’
