I sympathise and agree with what you say, if I was starting out in my working life I would certainly not consider this trade as a viable, long term option. 🙁

ModeratorRe: Bosch F43 won’t clear?
Sorted,
Went back this afternoon, unplugged motor, tried reset, no difference.
Tried reset several times, stood on one leg and whistled Dixie, turned round three times then tried it again and this time it changed from F43 to F26?????
Anyways I switched it off and on and error messages cleared. 8)

DOH,
Morning Don, I was looking at several linked posts on my iPad at the same time as my PC, senior moment. :clown:

Morning Martin,
Have looked a several posts but all of them describe the standard, hold in spin button, turn to spin then one more turn to reset, tried with motor plug out as well.
As I have already intimated the motor and wiring check out perfectly.;)

ModeratorRe: ISE machines. Worth the money?
I wouldn’t agree that clothes spun at 1000rpm are ‘quite wet’ and would certainly not contemplate buying a new machine if I had a 1000 prm machine that was working perfectly.
Excessive spin speed is not the be all and end all. 😉That said I have an ISE 1607 and it is excellent in every way, but unless I am washing a load of towels I reduce the spin speed from the 1600 max a lot of the time.
A new Hotpoint is actually an Indesit, not in the same league as your old WMA and a million miles from an ISE in quality.

Still working four to five days a week, but doing less calls and allowing things to wind down slowly. Far more selective in work taken on and the general demise of economically repairable machines is helping me to reduce my workload.
After 12 years at Hotpoint and into my 37th on my own I still have a reservoir of 10 to 25 year old machines to keep me ticking over, added to this around 300 ISE machines. TBH haven’t advertised for almost 30 years now.
I work now because I want to, not because I need to and as the tax man is taking a not inconsiderable amount from my pensions already I don’t want to be too busy or I would be well into the 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} tax bracket. 😥
I cannot lie in bed, even on holiday I am up and out early, I still enjoy driving, I like ‘fixing’ things and most of my customers are decent people.
Had I been sat at the same desk or stood at the same workbench for 45 years or more I would doubtless feel differently.
I have been lucky health wise up to now, still play squash three times a week, so mobility and the physical side of the job is not a problem.
It is still nice to hear the alarm go off on Saturday and know I don’t have to work and not working on Saturday has allowed me to buy a season ticket for the Theatre of Dreams. 8)

Could be low water pressure in your kitchen feed.
Fill /safety valves often fail with age on these. The valve is still available but is around £47.00.
Many parts now obsolete for this old stager so caution is advised before any major outlay.

ModeratorRe: Indesit wixe167 help please
Worth trying a new door interlock, certainly not worth putting a new pcb in it.

Wiring harness often breaks inside the plastic sheath inside the door.

Not sure I can charge them for ‘magic fingers’ 😉
A bit concerned as to what CSS might say though. 🙁iadom

Customers both mid 70’s in good health so no heavy use, in a dry laundry room.
Fault exactly as described, switch on via on/off switch, display shows 1-14 mins, control knob light Quick, 95 degrees and 1600 spin all lit, none of the buttons responded and turning the knob had no effect.
Close the door and it starts to fill without the start button being pressed.
I did a reset which had no effect.
Checked all components for signs of dampness, corrosion etc, all perfect.
Removed control panel and a visual check revealed no problems. I removed the control knob and sprayed a small amount of high grade switch cleaner behind it.
Refitted and at first it appeared to have made no difference ( don’t think the cleaner had any effect TBH )
I then switched it on, closed the door and allowed it to continue.
It filled and started to wash, timer counted down to 1-12 mins then I pressed and held the Start/Stop button.
The temp setting changed to 60 degrees, a small amount of water came in and then the display went to 59 mins and the machine stopped dead.
I was then able to alter the programmes, use all of the buttons and to all intents and purposes the machine appears to be working correctly.
Tried a few different settings and it worked fine. :con:
It appears that the controls had somehow locked up. ❓

Will have to see what transpires tomorrow morning. 🙂
I seem to remember her saying that it actually started the programme.
If it does start and continue to do a wash cycle that would suggest to me that the control PCB is more likely to be at fault than the inverter pcb/door lock/pressure switch and even the thermistor. :con:

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint LFT 114 broken
Supposed to signify a water inlet turbine fault, it is part of the water intake assembly inside the left hand (from front) panel.
