    Yes.

I don’t have access to the Neff spares site atm but if you go to the official Neff site and put you full Enr number in that will show you which type of flow meter or impellor jug your machine has in it. The impellor jug was superseded on later models with the reed switch you linked to. They are not interchangeable.

Off out for a few pints now, have a good Christmas with the Marigolds. 😉

A faulty flow meter, something BSH call an impellor jug is a common cause of this problem.

The paper labels do sometimes have the correct model number and serial numbers on them, usually begins with A**** for Ariston badged machines. Leaks from the dryer condenser directly above the module are a common cause of failure. As we cannot see the connections we can’t know just how bad they are but if the machine has failed totally then they must be in a very poor condition and will almost certainly fail quickly and damage any replacement.

1600WD just means it’s a 1600 spin speed washer dryer. You really need to find the full model and serial number to be certain the replacement module will fit or for us to be able to see if we can find any part numbers for the wiring loom.

Not the motor, the inverter module used with the three phase motors can give you a nasty kick if you don’t allow them to discharge. Not all machines have a three phase motor though

There should be a rating plate near either the door opening, the hinge or on the back. If it is less than 15 years old it will almost certainly be an Indesit made machine. The main control module is usually down at the bottom rear side, directly under the mains filter you changed. If you are going to examine that for signs of damage leave the machine unplugged for 5 to 10 minutes in case you have a three phase motor control module. Due to the cost and the need to program these modules I would suggest the machine is BER if it has failed.

Have you got the full model number, that way we can tell if it is an original Ariston or an Indesit in a dress. If you have changed the mains filter and lead and it is an Indesit then it’s very likely the main control module has blown.

NB : If you want to try and make your next machine last longer, stop doing low temperature washes all the time and use a good quality detergent. Do at least one 60 degree wash EVERY week and possibly a maintenance wash every couple of months.

Here is a link that you possibly should have researched. https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/cleaning-maintenance/2657-smelly-washing-machines

How can you say you have a perfectly good machine when you have hacked and sawn the drum in half? Just as a matter of interest how did you intend to rejoin the two halves of the outer drum? As there is no drum spider listed as a part for this machine which £30 part did you hope to acquire?

    Buy a new machine.

Do me a favour, a Zanussi made machine, 15 years old, you admit to overloading and using only once a week or even once every two weeks. Doing this allows the alloy to corrode far quicker than having constant, regular use which can be made even worse if used with cheaper detergents and constant low temp washes. You have done very well and had good service of what was one of the better made machines on the market at the time. 😉

Not a lot of water in there, it’s to catch all the things that shouldn’t be in the washer in the first place. Coins, bra wires etc. Checking the under sink plumbing for possible blockages or partial obstructions the next step.
