    Re: Duel fuel problem.

On going Gas Safe registration prevents a registered gas safe engineer signing off of or accepting as his own, another engineers work unless under very very specific conditions, (limited ability if training an engineer whom has passed his basis training at a suitable registered college for the purposes of his training) which from the nature of your post will not be the case.

Sorry but if it were me, I wouldnt chance it.

    Re: What is GIAS?

Garn your absolutely right, they produced a book of stuff as you say and it was certainly available from Connect at one point.

I havent seen it available anywhere for the past 4 or 5 years (maybe longer) though.

Ahh the days of getting the manual out and looking it all up in a few minutes……..

    Re: 0800 Repair

    Jess1ca Hi

Of course your comments are allowed, even welcomed, and I for one welcome all constructive comments, good or bad as long as they remain within the rules of this site.

I think one of the problems is JTM trade under various guises and therefore charge various fees. IIRC the £60.00 fee is FROM and relates specifically to the 0800 Repairs business and is there basic call out charge for that vehicle. They also have a £120.00 charge which includes parts as well as labour.

JTM themselves also engage in chargable work and they have a different charge structure and I think one of there labour charges is £88.00 as you say.

From a customers point of view, 0800 repair and JTM may well appear to be two separate entities almost competing with each other. I think JTM obtain cash/chargeable work from the clients they provide the warranty and insurance work on and is not always derived from the web advertising they engage in.

0800 Repair is advertising led and sourced work.

They respective mark up or percentage for handling the necessary admin is of course a matter for them and margins for us agents are tight. If an agent is unhappy with it they always have the ultimate choice, it is there business decision to continue with the rates on offer or cease.

JTM/0800 are not our main clients. Effectively the work we have from them fills in slots in our engineers diaries and thus contributes to ensuring our engineers daily runs are profitable and cost effective.

I doubt we could remain profitable if we had to solely rely on the JTM/0800 work load but for now, it suits us to do it.

    Best wishes to all

Not usually as there business is to get the HVR/CDY engineer to attend taking the appropriate fee off the customer but I have found them helpful on the telephone when asked, it depends on whom answers the phone when you call.

I might stand correcting on this one but I dont think they make a TDS disc anymore. I think it is on-line access only now, but Connect have bucket loads of info available.

Some worrying remarks made about Amica

I have got a couple of hundred in the field of all types and not had problems with them other than the usual run of the mill stuff.

They are what they are. If you want the all singing super latest machine guaranteed to last 10 years spend the money on ISE units or Miele.

    It’s all horses for courses.

After sales back up is fantastic as far as my experience to date has been so for the money I can’t fault them
