I have never heard of a gearbox doing this, the motor turns one way for wash and the other for spin. 😕
To change the gearbox would take 15-20 mins. take the agitator and motor off, three bolts round the base of the gearbox and it drops out. with clutch attached to gearbox. Change clutch over to new gearbox and rebuild.

You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to do. The gearbox comes complete and IIRC costs around £70 retail.

    Hi Tony,

Have you checked that the 3 springs around the bottom of the tub are OK also check the spring going from the bottom/back of the tub to the chassis at bottom of machine.

The number you should be going with is the one that is directly after the the model no, not any number after the 12nc or serial, in this case it is the number 19 which is printed after the model no.

That rung a bell and after checking with on of my older engineers he confirmed that it is most probably a timer fault, problem is the part became obselete in March this year 481228218062.

IIRC SIOS only costs approx £35 for the disc with free updates for a year.

    Re: whirlpool cooker fault 03

Same main board for both ovens and they both need resistors cut on the board. There should be an A4 sheet in the box with instructions on what resistor to cut, if it is missing ( as sometimes happens ) post up here the number that is on the r/h side of the model no on the appliance. iIt should read similar to this: AKZ151/IX 5 with 5 being the relevant number
This number tells you what ones to cut.

    Main board part no: 481931039791

robinsonrobbo wrote:the question is is this part just a plug in or do you have to configure it yourself and if so how do you do it ❓ . thanx chris

    Hi Chris,

The answer depend on the 12nc number for the oven. On the older ones you have to cut resistors on the board. On the new ones the board can come preconfigured or you can order a blank board and program via a SAM module.

If you post the 12nc number I can tell you the part number and the whether this board needs resistors cut.

    Hi Jim,

Take the door off and check all the thick wires going through to base, used to do lots of these in the dark ages 😆 Appliance made in Nov 1991.

Whilst we are on the subject of phones and relevance I see that user “drinkywinky” has put a plug for an Ebay auction in classifieds, he is trying to sell 130 phone sims 😕
Looking at the auction users ID is see that it is Paulpaddison that is selling these cards, do we have a user with two sign on names for UKW?

It has probably got a leak, this model has a float switch in the base.
