    Re: HOTPOINT WM32S

I have contacted Hotpoint who are going to supply me with the disk but they say that I have to fill in an application form first, seems a bit long winded but hey!!.

I have not bought parts from Hotpoint for about 10 years and wonder if they give any discount to non account holders?

I see from their website that you need to spend 5k a year on parts to open an account, do Hotpoint adhere to this policy or will they let me open an account.

    Re: Whirlpool automatic part no

It is either on the label attached to the inner door frame or on the back of the appliance along from the water valves you will see the 12nc code and the serial no above some barcodes

    Re: Whirlpool automatic part no

There are two versions of this appliance with different knobs and indicators.

If the12nc is 857032515000 then the part no’s are 481941258517 for the knob and 481241318203 for the indicator.

If the12nc is 857032515010 then the part no’s are 481941258754 for the knob and 481941379239 for the indicator.

star screwdriver, now thats got me going.

I still have in my box my trusty stanley star driver with the shaft that is about 14″ long. In days gone by every engineer in a shop had one for taking out the motor in hoover juniors. I can’t remember the last time I used it and I have had it for about 25 years, so this brings on a new thread of “The heavy toolbox, what can you take out for the new year”

Why do they give you an adress of “The Gables, London Road” When you get there you find that London Road is 5 miles long, only to get there and find number 1025 stuck on the gate

Without a doubt the most important tool in case is the dofor tin, which is an old Golden Virgina 2oz tobacoo tin full of screws, grommets, fuses and circlips. The merits of this tin were explained to me by my first boss and when I asked him what dofor meant he told me it was obvious, the bits in the tin do for this and do for that.

I had a problem with JTM last year when I noticed that November 2002 payment had not arrived by the begining of January this year. When I checked I was told that “we have not received your invoice”

It seemed a bit odd to me as their accounts department had phoned me before christmas to confirm some items on the invoice, so they admited that they must have mislaid it.

Guess when I last did work for JTM

You’ve got it, begining of January this year

Another pause for thought on this deal is this.

you go to an appliance and have to order parts, the part is backorder, a week later GBDAR/RETRA write the appliance off because the customer is screaming. You then receive the part that you cannot return and you will never use again. Your stuck with it!

I posed this question to GBDAR and was told that it would never happen but they would not commit to paying for the part in this situation.

I have told them I will not be doing any of this work till this is sorted.

Congratulations on the new baby, I take it we wont be hearing much from you in the near future. You have just brought back some old memories of being up all night changing nappies and then going out and doing 12 jobs to pay for them.
