Re: Britannia Range tripping RCD… some of the time

It’s hard to be suer as just about anything that has electricity can cause tripping faults but from what you describe my bet would be the grill energy regulator.

If it were the element it’d trip all the time (usually) so that’s the obvious thing given that all the rest seems okay.

What I need to know is, from the picture above, what position it’s on, there’s two used, 4 and 5, it’s just what one you need although I think it’s a dual one, position 4 that is this one:

    Or this compatible one:

Yes, you’d need a new regulator and it’d need rewired.

    It will not be easy.

It’s a transition to the new site and completely new platform but, so far, it’s not been going well at all.

You will always have water in the sump and pump, that is quite correct.

As to smells from washing machines, probably best to read this:

    Yes.

You need Gas Safe Handling or something now for all refrigerants bar R600a.

If you get caught without it, be prepared for a hefty fine at best.

    Re: Freezer no longer working

There’s an outside chance it’s a sensor fault.

But honestly, it’s way better odds on that the compressor has failed from the description as it sounds like its overheating and tripping out on the safety.

I do rate Liebherr, good stuff but even they’ve been forced to compromise or be too expensive.

Re: Trade and reluctant to buy

You can get an overview of who makes what and a general parts/service position for each brand of much any note here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/abou … nformation

Suffice to say that, if you want a side by side for £600 you’re at the very bottom of the market and probably, all things considered, Beko or Hisense.

Bosch et all is rebadged Daewoo.

To get a decent side by side these days start thinking £2K and up easily. If you can get one.

For a pukka full on US, built like a tank to last a generation then Sub Zero but, you’re locked into them for parts and service totally and you’ll kiss goodbye to £10K or more for one.

Outside that, it’s slim pickings as consumers have driven the market down demanding low prices, manufacturers merely pandered to that demand.

Re: Intergrated fridge freezer door hinges convert to slide

    I did misread that, sorry.

But if it’s hard against a wall or whatever then often you won’t have the clearance to allow the hinges to move if it’s not a fixed one put back in its place so, it can be sensitive to that as well and all too often tall larder units are at the end of a run. That means that if you fit a sliding type it won’t fully open correctly or foul on the wall.

I’ve come across that several times and it can be a big problem on some installs so, each has its own merits and issues.
