Some get annoyed but many proffesional people or indeed people on the road prefer it, as the old saying goes, you can’t please all the people…

KeymasterSee, now this is where we should be talking and taking action against this sort of nonsense as a group, there’s more strength in that.

KeymasterVerbally = no use to man nor beast.
Hence some service providers can’t touch NESN agents or those carrying out work (as Kev says, legally AFAIK, by accepting the work without a contract they have still agreed to the terms) for them until they are clear of the Draconian conditions applied in it.
However there are some, even high profile, NESN agents that are working for others currently that I do know of. Whether this is under another company heading I don’t know in one or two cases but I do know that should release you from the contract clauses that are an issue.
So much for the smiley, happy, friendly new face of NESN. 😕

KeymasterI generally SMS mobiles anyway as i’s more expensive to leave a message on their answering machines than a land line answering machine, if they have one. 🙄
I have found that it’s cheaper to have a mobile here to SMS from off the PC than phone all the mobile numbers we get now. Plus the customer can then deal with it at their convenience.

KeymasterAh right, then you’ve no hope of any consessions. 😉
Na, I’d say electrical for sure and not a simple self-fix job.

KeymasterJoe,
Call Smeg and explain that the appliance is only 3 months out of warranty and they may make some consession towards any repairs. 😉
It could be a number of things in all honesty, timer, microswitch, etc.

KeymasterIt could be either in a condensor dryer. The condensate chamber could be blocked or the pump, to remove the water, could be failed or stalling therefore not removing the moisture. There are a couple of other things it could be, but they’re the likely suspects.
See if anyone is listed in your area in the directories in the main nav panel to the left, if not pop up your postcode area and we’ll see what we can find for you. Most of the guys here will ba a fair bit cheaper that Hotpoint will be. 😉

KeymasterMark,
I’ve tested it right now using the demo account which has the same privileges as any trade account, for this reason, and it works fine. If you look at the picture in the pub, Shire Horse 3, you’ll see the test comment.
The only things I can think of are a popup blocke blocking the popup required for comments or some kind of firewall issue, either locally or with your ISP as I can’t find anything wrong.

KeymasterWhere was the original appliance sold from that is being replaced? It is probably more likely that DAG are sending the customer back to the original retailer and Comet are replacing the appliance with an “own brand” rather than DAG. I wouldn’t be surprised by that at all as many retailers have effectively kicked Servis appliances out due to their stunning record of reliability. 😉
That being the case, if there is no direct replacement available, then the closest match on spec and price would be used to replace it. I mean, no-one is going to replace a £180 Servis with a £250 Hotpoint are they? Of course not, so they would use whatever fits the bill and if that happens to be an Indesit or a Blomberg then what’s the difference?
And here’s a thought for you, if you were DAG or the retailer would you put another Servis in?

KeymasterYeah Lizzie that shouldn’t be a problem at all to get that for you. I’m sure Dave will pop up with an answer in the morning for you once we all get back into work.

KeymasterYeah Benjamin you’re right, the only way is to strip it down if it is all clogged up. We have had some success clearing things like that with dishwasher cleaner, Finish in the UK, as it’s low-foaming so you don’t end up with bubbles coming at you out the soap drawer. 😉
I suspected you may not have a boil wash, many machines sold outside Western Europe don’t have such a thing, some don’t even have heaters in them either, cold wash only, especially in the Far East IME.
But try a few washes and if you can get dishwasher cleaner like that it may well help.

KeymasterRe: Hotpoint Advertise Franchises!
Well another week has kicked off and so has the work apparently.
An interesting point was raised on one of the points in NESN’s information on this thus far in that, if there are 1500 employed engineers completing 8000 calls a day that’s not too hot a figure given that those guys are running about in vans stocked to the gills for that work and have all the tech info to hand. Even allowing a hundred or so off, let’s be generous and say 200 at any time that’s still just over a 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} first hit rate which is pretty bad given it’s effectively single brand servicing.
Now, how do you think we’d fare with no stock and no tech info?
Also a little bird tells me that this is indeed a short-term fix and the work will dry up after the New Year, possibly after Christmas as Merloni hope to have their engineering capacity back up by then. Bear this in mind if you’re buying in any stock at all. As billed this merely alleviates the pressure over the busiest time of the year.
Another rumour currently circulating is that engineers may be contacted directly with a view to poaching them from the independents into the Merloni fold.
It’s as much as I know for now.

KeymasterMoi? 😉
Well from what I can gather the Merloni work is now being farmed out as billed. No tech info, no spares, no idea how long it will last and, more importantly from what I can dig up, with NO CHOICE!
It’s looking more and more like a case of the Emperor’s New Clothes I’m afraid. Same old same old with a different set of faces pulling the strings.
