KeymasterAgreed, but how in a fair way? I need to think about that one a bit. 😕

KeymasterWe got prices back from the hotel in Hatfield…
OUCH! 🙁
It may not be possible to go there so we’re open to suggestions again.

KeymasterLawrence,
Speak to Ted, he should be on later. 😉
There’s also a few deals in the pipeline that I’m working on for UKW users/members.

KeymasterI didn’t get stung on my order but it would seem that, from previously many items order from the US or Canada, if you get a muppet postman you’ve cracked it. Apparently my sources in the PO tell me that due to the fact that they now employ part-timers that are barely litterate they are poorly trained and simply don’t know what to charge or when to charge it. The kinda bad bit is that the PO picks up the tab as they have to stump up to HMG at Mount Pleasant sorting in London.
Just as I understand it.

KeymasterIf you can’t get to the object I’d advise it, as it is very possible that it could cause damage.

KeymasterSally,
Sometimes getting stuff out from between the inner drum and out tank is difficult for us and, by the way, a nightmare as well at times! In the worst case the engineer may actually have to strip out the drum to remove the foreign object.
I’d also strongly advise against using the machine for now. Just the other day I had a customer’s machine which required an inner drum, outer tank (front and rear) and heater because of a 20p piece. Total repair cost was way over £250!

I’d consider that scrap metal. 😉

KeymasterThere’s a link in the weblinks for them somewhere Technics but I don’t have a general enquiry number as such for you.
Oh and funnily enough “electrue” is currently our No.3 in search terms used to find the site! 😯 😉

KeymasterLawrence I don’t know about the part as I don’t take much to do with Whirlpool generally but the finished products I may be able to help with, I’ll check it tomorrow.

KeymasterI’ve never worked for LG, from what I’m hearing here I don’t know if I want to either, even a good rate can be offset by problems with spares alone, as witnessed with another of our Korean friends recently.
But to add in all the horror stories I’ve heard on this is just getting downright silly, from what I’m being told you almost need a handbook to know what is and what is not covered by warranty. Then you have to try to get money out the end user who will insist on not stumping up as “they have a warranty”, if only I had a £1 for every time I’d heard that! 😕
On top of that spares supplies problems, payment issues (like not getting any) and a lack of technical information.
However that said, maybe we should all wait and see what the score is with CDSL before bumping our gums too much about it. You never know, it may be a better deal and it’s only fair to give them a chance. Although I do realise that LG and Samsung are not exactly the best liked within the industry.

KeymasterHi woz,
As far as I am aware there is no specific regulation in regard to this for appliance (or much else really) repairs in the home. I think that there was some talk of introducing such a scheme but it was considered too bulky and, basically, unenforceable to be in any way workable.
Too meet IEE regs or building standards is a different matter altogether but I do know that there is no requirement to loop test a newly installed appliance in a new build.
You should read the thread about Part P, that explains why it’s unworkable quite well, from memory it’s in the General Trade Forum.
Hope that helps a little.

Keymastermultiplexuser it may well be a faulty timer then as there should be at least two lights on normally that would either be solid or flashing or indeed any combination, that would give an indication of the general nature of the fault.
