Funnily enough I know what MOSFETS are. 😉

You may well not be able to get them as a spare part Fred and certainly not from F&P as they will probably only sell a full PCB and not any components off the PCB. As a general rule we don’t go to down component level on electronic cards and we certainly don’t go looking for faults in any of the ICs.

    Martin,

    You’ve found a weird one!

The model is listed on Agora, with no diagram at all or technical information and only a partial parts listing. The timer is not listed so I’ve no idea what that machine is and I’ve never seen one.

I’ve already recieved phone calls with that exact concern from some concerned parties given the high failure rate on them.

The one thing I will say is that generally D&G are very reasonable to work with and I’m quite sure that they will address that problem, just how I don’t know, but I’m sure that they will.

My personal experience of “cabinet fee” repairs is a bitter one at best but I have had some tell me that it can work but only on a volume basis, if there’s not enough volume then it won’t work. That said, it didn’t work out too well for DSG & Service Force not so many years back and that was the manufacturers own agents carrying out the repairs.

Only time will tell I guess.

I can’t be sure but I’m pretty certain that they are aware of this site. As usual little interest was taken. One of the spares distributors even wanted to charge UKW for a link, I will not name them, but suffice to say I wasn’t impressed.

Many of the suppliers seem to have a “if it’s not going to make me anything I’m not interested” attitude and they are prepared to offer little, if indeed any, input.

Just look at teh suppliers list a FREE service and not one of them has bothered to send me some details. They must not want business. 😕

Try two young kids that seem determined to keep you awake at night and appear to see this as a tag-team event. A website to run that eats time. A business to run that eats time. Conference calls till the wee small hours. Meetings around the country every few weeks. Customer’s bursting your head about things that have sod all to do with you. Engineers that think vans double as dodgems. An average of over 300 emails a day to read and no time to watch 45 minutes of TV a day.

Then get up in the morning and find the motivation and get back to it after your generous 6 hours of sleep. 😕

But there’s always someone that has it worse. I actually told the missus that what I wanted for Christmas was to be bored with nothing to do, just for a few hours…

Santa bloody well cheated me on that one! 😆

    Re: Anglo Iberian Services

Well, like many others probably, I let AIS off the hook with a lot because I’ve worked with Graham for years on end, in fact IIRC since AIS started and all that you say is true Alex.

For the hoods I’ve started pre-ordering spares as there’s just no point in even calling without some spares on board for the call in most instances. This is not really AIS at fault, just the way that the market has gone with a multitude of different appliances with, in many cases, ludicrous spares pricing that thwarts any attempt at holding a stock of any great degree. That aside, yes, the rates from AIS are far too low and I too have spoken with Graham on many an occasion about it as well but owing to the allegiance that I feel I owe AIS I have never taken any action on it.

I have gotten a bit tougher of late with many things AIS related but still nowhere near as rigid as I have been with others, but then AIS are usually pretty reasonable on the whole if you encounter any problems.

The problem for me is that unless you get a decent first-fix rate you ain’t making any money, given the rates with AIS and the range of product involved I sure ain’t making any money from AIS. The problem I have is, that when the rates are as low it’s a case of “we’ll do it when we can and we’re in the area concerned” as opposed to just getting the job done, but the rate simply does not allow for that.

I will give AIS every opportunity I can as they’ve helped me in the past as well but we’ll see what shakes out with the rate review.

Yeah I use the Parrot Bluetooth kit in the car and the family bus as well now as i jump in, switch the car on and it just works with the Nokia 6310i or the 6600, but I did have some issues with the Sony Ericsson handsets. That’s not a critisism of SE in particular, more of Bluetooth which is supposed to just work and, to be fair, 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time does. With voice activation it meets the current legislation for using a phone in the car.

I did have the headset thing (think I still do somewhere :?) but I looked too much like an extra from a dodgy Star Trek episode for my liking with that on. 😆

Yes Penguin, you are absolutely correct in that Caffepress manufacture as and when required then ship once the order is made up.

The problem is that there is no UK (or EU) equivelent of Cafepress and to get the same kind of pricing as we have you’d be looking at ordering substantial quantities and holding stocks. Quite why no UK company has implimented such a scheme is beyond me, but that’s the way it is.

Added to which to get the prices offered by Cafepress we’d be looking at buying big quantities in the UK to compete. So, even allowing for the import duty, it’s still cheaper than a UK source which is sad I know, but the reality of the situation. There again, if I’d sourced it in the UK VAT etc would all have been added at source without the option of escaping in when the PO cocks it up. 😉

Never say never! Point is it’s now been made a lot harder indeed and the little morons are now well and truly goosed as they were using an exploit known as SQL Injection, which I’ve now read a bit on and that avenue is virtually sealed.

Like I said though, never say never. 😕

But we will be making it a LOT tougher to crack!

    Hi Nigel,

Probably the reason that you can’t find much in reference to that particular model number is that it a special made for MFI, who also own Howdens, the builders merchant. The connection with Howdens is the most likely reason that the developers have used that appliance.

washerdoctor, can you give the uploading a picture another go please as I’ve changed the permissions on the user group.

In theory, it should allow the upload but hold the picture for admin approval before adding it, but it should also allow you a personal album that you can upload to. All very complex stuff… I really should RTFM. 😉

Weird, I knwo that there are still some issues that I’m working on, but I was unaware of a feedback problem so I’ll look at that later. I’m babysitting this morning so there’s no chance of doing anything technical right now. 🙁

As for the picture/s just email them to me at kwatt@funkycool.co.uk and I’ll ge them uploaded for you. I have a funny feeling I didn’t let any users upload pictures due to security issues and I’ve not visited that subject in some time so I’ll take a look at that as well and get back to you on it.
