KeymasterRe: LG Fridge / Freezer works intermittently
Metering it out is about it really along with checking for earth leakage.

Yes, the compressor.

Just keep in mind that those cooling fans will usually run on after you switch off to stop stuff from getting burnt.

All that’s telling you its that the machine either isn’t getting water or, it’s not detecting it.

Is the compressor running hot?

Something stuck in the wash pump perhaps?
You’d need to open it up to find out.

It is obsolete with no known work round for it either I’m afraid.
A friendly Smeg service agent gave me the info on it. 😉
Were it me, I’d wire up the fan to come on with the main oven fan or, rewire it to use one of the usual fan control stats however doing that is beyond the remit of what we can advise as, someone could blow stuff up doing that if they don’t know what they’re about or, electrocute themselves.
But if you’re competent enough you’ll see that yourself and be able to work out what I’m on about from the above enough to figure it out.

How bizarre! There again…
The board is shown on one of the version drawings but, no part number or info on it at all.
I’ll need to dig into that one.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Thanks for mentioning AMDEA, makes me smile every time and, not in a good way.
These days, my thoughts, about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike and that’s perhaps more credit than is due.
Old boys club ruled by… oh dear, I better shut it…
The point in asking the indies to go in is that, you know what they are so you can tell the authorities that even when the badge, or whatever remains of it, says something else and with the resources here, you can find out if you don’t know.
You can often point to causality and, again if you don’t know, you can call on a huge resource to get opinion here.
And if you get paid to do that on a case by case basis as a consultant, fill your boots I say. Just make sure you get it right is all and, you have the tools and resources to do just that here. Free.
The prospect of getting a lump sum to write a guide, I’ll let you ponder the odds of that ever happening and if it were a prospect, I’m first in that queue. 😉
BTW, two dozen? More like a handful, perhaps a little more.
The indies though, don’t have and agenda or a vested interest. Now, AMDEA…

Are you sure on the model number as Smeg shows no electronic fan control on an A2?

Yup, that’s the thing of it all.. no evidence to base much of anything on.
Lots of claims banded about of this, that and the other but usually bog all supporting evidence and I think it would be irresponsible to jump too conclusions based on speculation and he said, she said stuff that’s been going about.
Thing is there’s been Beko ones, White Knight ones and goodness knows what else that have caught light. Most I’ve seen you can almost instantly tell it’s due to fluff/lint in the shell but of course, it can’t be the user’s fault can it? 😉
And to identify the machines isn’t exactly hard, so long as you know what you’re looking at.
Reminds me of the producer responsibility for WEEE, the manufacturers arguing that it couldn’t be done as council workers or recyclers wouldn’t be able to tell who’s machines they were.
I suggested to pay you guys to identify the ones they couldn’t… they didn’t like that idea, can’t think why.

A number of the images that you see are stock ones Martin, often not the actual appliance.

TBH that is how it’s looking.
Calls for compensation, calls for emergency payments, calls for a full recall… it just goes on and on.
Yet as Steven pointed out to me the other day, there’s more fire incidents with thatched roofs every year than there are with tumble dryers. And, there’s a few more tumble dryers out there than flamin’ (ha, ha) thatched roofs!!
Methinks some perspective is required!
