KeymasterRe: Tricity Bendix AW1001W wont start
Press and hold the start pause and the one to the left of that for about five seconds to clear it as that doesn’t seem to make sense as a fault code.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Rumour has it…. 😉
There’s 600,000 registered to have this done.
The work will get hawked about as there’s no way WP/HP can cope with that mammoth influx so, expect to get asked by all and sundry to do this mod.
Currently the rates seem to vary, depends who’s asking and, depends what you ask for with some. But, about the £40-41 seems to be about the kick off point.
Before you get all excited just bear this in mind… Whirlpool and Indesit have both royally shafted you all over the years by withholding technical info, charging for rudimentary spares lookup tools that others provide for free and, making you buy expensive readers and cards. Then of course, blagging back all the DAG work as well.
Just saying. 😉
Now they want your help after sc**ing the independent trade over for years.
Sorry but there’s little love lost between myself and both of them over the years and I just call it as I see it.
So, here’s the deal…
You get the “honour” of doing this mod for what is a lower than normal warranty rate for many, if not most and substantially lower for a number then you know in advance it will take (I’m told) 40-50 minutes.
It also looks as if the calls will get dumped on you, so you get a list of calls allocated to you, up to you to get them done before the next bunch arrives. I’ve seen the number of “at least” twenty five calls per week or, about three full days work.
If you’re sat about doing nothing I guess it might be okay. But, you ain’t gonna make a fortune as, by the time you take off your costs you’ll be lucky to be earning £10-12 a call.
Then you need to submit all the info (not clear how yet) serial number, part stuff, take what I assume an earth loop reading and then wait to get paid (not clear how long that’ll take). Fail on any of that, chances are, you will not be paid at all.
On the upside, parts are FOC and you get trained on what to do… you probably need to attend a thing somewhere at your cost for that though.
And, after it’s all done and dusted, back to business as usual.. still not a scrap of tech support for the indies and we’ll all get humped on the parts prices as has been the case for many, many years.
My take is that, unless they were paying significantly and, I do mean significantly more for this given the history, circumstances and what will happen going forward, I’d tell them to place it somewhere not so pleasant.
For short term, bail them out the cr4p work, to do stuff they don’t want to do or cannot do, starting rate should be significantly higher than your normal work or, it’s just not worth the effort or indeed the risk of losing work that will still be there long after this has gone.

KeymasterRe: LPG Converter for a Mercury 1090
Can’t help Don, that’s the Lincat made cooker, Rangemaster bought the Mercury brand and then dropped all support pretty much so, you can’t get hardly any parts.
I know, I’ve got one!

If you can give me the 12NC number off the plate, starts 85, I can be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure for you.

KeymasterRe: Filter alternative???
So far as I can tell that one is correct, same here:

As you can see, there’s numerous part number changes so it’s likely just a new design or whatever.

KeymasterRe: ISE cd601w
It’s probably just the lifter pump blocked with fluff.
Get to that, clear it and the problem should be solved. The manual is on here somewhere that shows you where it is.

KeymasterRe: Brand New Wavy Door Seal – Is this correct?
I’m surprised the seller didn’t give you any advice but, that’s hardly uncommon with a number of them. Sell you the bits, not much else.
Get a hairdryer, heat the seal and it should slowly pop back into shape.

People want cheap.
That sort of thing is a part of the cost.
