Well think again, both have been sent by Royal Mail, who are themselves still in total chaos :rolls: One parcel was posted on the 10th so I suppose I can expect it some time toward the end of the month 👿 This includes a fan oven element to replace one ordered from Homespares on the 2nd but never received. The Homespares one is no doubt lost in their new warehouse somewhere.
I’m in the same boat I have two orders working there way through Royal Mail ,why didn’t they send via carriers during the postal strike !!

washdoctor wrote: But for me, before ANYTHING is done, tackled, raised or debated, we should have the following sorted:
Constitution agreed
WTA registered, wherever it needs to be
Accountants agreed and confirmed
Bank Account opened and membership funds transferred
VAT registration number applied for
Logo designed and approved (I know Ken is working on it  )
website designed and looking good for joe public to visit (bottom line is, image goes a long long way, so to be professional, we have to firstly look professional)IMO, the above list should be our first tasks, and only when the above are all ticked, then we can start to build a foundation. Untill then, i see it as building one, whilst leaving holes in it to be filled at a later date….. it weakens the wall!
Right just so we are clear.
Constitution -Done – this includes COP and we need to produce one for associates
WTA registered –Where and with whom?
Accountants –I thought we were using UKW’s?
Bank Account –in Ken’s thread “important issues” it states that it is in the process of being transferred
VAT reg –Ken is |David doing this?
Logo –Work in progress -Ken
Website – see aboveSorry, I took the Bank ,Vat,etc as a given .
Will post more tonight but Work beckons

Pulling this back on track….
The reason that I mentioned ducks is that we can all too easily look at the end game and over look what is most important let me explain.
I have always worked on the principal that the quality and strength of a foundation dictates how strong whatever is built on top of it becomes.
So using that premise…
I think we have a strong foundation….
1. With the constitution- it’s creates an accountability under which we can operate as a trade association
2. With the code of conduct-It holds all members accountable and will sort the wheat from the chaff
3. With ID Cards, this is mega in my opinion as it ticks so many boxes, We can promote the WTA Brand with this, create brand awareness with both the trade and the consumer, gives us a discernable identity, also a credibility, and an edge over the likes of DASA in one hit.
4. The web site, personally I don’t think this is the be all and end all, I think it just has to act as a gateway for consumer and trade alike to access the WTAThese are some of the blocks on which we can build and attack trade issues then we have other things like Steve’s tool idea, the Logo, more things on the website, associate membership’s, van stickers .etc etc.
But to my mind these can all be built on top of all of the above but we need to agree on the foundations and then build
For what it’s worth I think that the first thing to rollout is the ID cards ,this raises awareness hugely then other things can follow.

those of us way down south could fly up to you perhaps ? fly friday early ,meet eat ,drink return sat .
I think it would be good to meet however I think it needs to be just the steeringg group at the mo to finalise everything once we have decided a few more things .
The next UKW meet will be Feb 08 won’t it ? that would be an obvious place to have a general mtg .

ParticipantRe: Specialist tool supplies and tool rental scheme.
I have been thinking about this one ,I wonder if we need to rent it out (Admin ,hassles, deposit etc) why not sell them…
put them in the shop on UKW like the fault code books sell them at a reduced cost to WTA members, and perhaps a slightly higher cost to regular trade members .
Then there is a recognised benefit to becoming a TA member out in the general trade .

kwatt wrote:I forgot to say, once this is agreed, which I think it pretty much is, can we just move this whole thread over to the members forum for discussion saving the need for multiple threads?
It also offers the members better transparency in what’s going on and what the process is.

I suppose we could ask the questions such as who are peoples preffered suppliers, manufacturers ,etc
NOT a slagging session but canvassing opinion ?

ParticipantRe: WTA Website
I think as “front of house” it does the trick ,it gives us a vehicle with which to promote ourselves to the public .
And it gives trade members access to the forum’s in here .
The only thing I feel needs changing is the constitution etc ,Which I think is in hand .Lawrence

Even a simple poll would suffice. Jim.Agreed Jim ,A poll isn’t threatening and people can vote anonomously
