Largely this is due to the fact that they are not a pure wholesaler, they retail online and so are a direct competitor as well as a “trade” supplier which, to me, is a conflict of interest..They have evolved into a conglomerate with all the values that follow …sadly

If we run the same principle that is being put forward re spares suppliers does that mean we should approach JTM,NESN,GBDAR et al as well?

Sorry came in to this late ,I think the fact that connect are the most complained/commented about spares supplier by the members kind of tells us something ,You could do a thread asking for peoples favourite spares supplier ,that would be interesting.
I would start with the others and if Connect come asking then we re-asses.
The other thing is that our desire is to support the indies ,should we be promoting a supplier that is so controlling (just ask around re DASA ).

Sorry I missed the draft bit,Cool that makes sense ,I suppose as we are a “work in progress “we should give ourselves a deadline to come up with something .
Any suggestions for content and deadline ?

ParticipantRe: The Important Stuff
Just to push this on,are there any takers for acting as spokesman for the money ,I see it as if there is a query with regard to the funds instead of eight voices potentially saying slightly different things ,we have one voice saying what the eight of us agree on ,unless it’s a straight forward question like how much is in the bank ,in which case we post the balance (maybe we should do that anyway for tranasparency).
Ken ,UKW are handling the subscription / membership admin arent they ?

ParticipantRe: Spreading the word
We suffer from this in Church life ,it’s called the Few doing the Much for the Many.
Sometimes as Ken says people will see a post and agree with it ,for instance we saw two posts both syaing spares prices were a major concern I wonder how many people saw that post and thought “too right” but didn’t post either cause they were worried about being seen to repeat what someone sisd already or they couldn’t be bothered .
Why not pull off the suggestions as they come -Albeit Slowly ,and set up a poll and ask for opinion as well even if it’s the same as every one else ,that gives us an instant idea of what peoples major concerns are ,and evidence to corrobarate us when we tackle someone on it.
Of course don’t forget if people don’t post suggestions then we have to set the agenda to keep things moving ,then they will come out of the woodwork and post to say they disagree 😕 😆

Jim.
Thats about where I stand on it ,the whitegoods industry is a broad church ,with lots of different stances and views ,I like Jims Exclusively Inclusive quote ,kind of says it all .

WTA (Whitegoods Trade Association), The Future!
“Hi all,
The WTA is here, and it is now that we can all start to work towards a better future for our Industry. Now, we need some input. Everyone is invited to comment and air their thoughts on what they see is affecting our Industry. Have people got concerns about various issues that may affect the future of this Industry? What would people like to see addressed by our association? Basically, consider this to be a blank page in a scrap book. Lets get our pencils out and lets hear your views so we can all understand….
What do YOU want from it?”
Is that Ok for the first post in the members area? (please feel free to edit if you want)
Adrian 🙂 .
