Not a “machine” as such, but dear God, what a pile of dung they are.

    Dave.
I had the pleasure of fitting a fan oven element to one last week ,WHY is the mains block in the middle of the back panel!!! preventing access to the element

Re: Lovely new Hygena freestanding dishwashers!

This thread has set me thinking ,Something I have always wondered is how do you get to design a washing machine ?.Is it like F1 where designers are headhunted from rivals which is why you sometimes see very similar design features .
In my experience they seem to not be designed with ease of servicing in mind but with ease of manufacture (I wonder if thats why the Zan bolts are back to front ~illogical)
I wonder if any ex field engineers have had input design ,Kind of a” you see them when they go wrong whats the achilles heel” Approach.
The point penguin makes about poly prop tubs fascinates me that the design is dictated by an outside source .

What I have noticed about the Far Eastern companies is that they seem to manufacture in the cheapest possible way and give little or no thought to after sales service and that attitude seems to extend to information and spares. What they do do is offer the customer a seemingly good buy with all the bells and whistles at a very keen price up front.
    K.

Do they begin with a S and end with a UMG by anychance Ken.

I wonder if its because they don’t use their own engineers they sub the work out so it doesnt matter how long it takes

Needless to say I felt I had to decline the work under the terms offered.

Which begs the Question who is going to do this work ?

Also its worth pointing out to D&G That we are not beating them over the head to be Greedy but just to make a reasonable living .
In all the years I have been a D&G agent they have always been fantastic and still are.

I wonder if they have been put into a position here due to bad planning on GDA’S part,Perhaps anyone from D&G reading this can confirm /deny this

yes Ken we did and whilst they understood our concerns there was sadly nothing they could do ,Apparently this contract has no room for manoeuvre

kwatt wrote:Now, if Merloni decide (as I suspect they will) to stick Indesit/Ariston in a Hotpoint wrapper and sell them badged then a lot of the trade simply won’t want to know them. Perhaps some of the manufacturers should consider the effect of a few hundred engineers floating about the country telling 8-10 potential customers a day (at least) not to touch XXXXXXX brand. :?.

If you look in any of the club books there is a hotpoint washer that looks suspiciously like an indesit

The way of the future I suppose 🙄

    Dave.

Its Precisely because of the fear of this combined with it being also Indesit and Ariston that I sadly declined the work as I just can’t take the risk

Who makes the Belling washer? It’s about the only one I haven’t figured out yet!

The last one I had to repair for stoves was full of Gorenje Branded parts ,But the washer /dryers I have seen are Merloni

Have you ever played the game of tying the currys sales rep up in Knots I once had one that was trying to tell me that Servis were ultra reliable ,Indesit and ariston were independent of one another,And that Hotpoint and Creda had never met !

I think its about time that the manufacturers and Corgi Clarified this,Some manufacturers say okay ,some say not okay,Corgi say …
well not a lot really .
as most dual fuels are ranges how do people get on pulling them out with one engineer ,If you look in the Elba handbook it states two people required !
I wonder if the labour rate would reflect this?
