Thanks Jim ,she rang this morning as I asked her to leave it to complete the rinse and spin and let me know the outcome , after completing rinse and spin it’s now done 4 washes fine.
Assume it needed to reset itself..

Re: Samsung Washer Dryer – Dryer thermostat sensor tripping

You need to change the whole assy, its called a duct scroll.
all the internal channels are fluffed up and restricting the airflow thus causing the thermal trip to activate

    Re: dryer fire risk

You are the owner so just book them all with hotpoint to have the modification done, issue your renters with the info that hotpoint provide you I.e clean the filter don’t use unattended etc and i would think you are covered

The problem is if you modify it “unofficially ” you are then liable for anything that happens to it thereafter.

Look for a rubber disc either side on the top of the side panel near the front ,pop them off to reveal a Philips screw ,take screw out deck hinges up
If no rubbers then side panels off to remove screw

From memory (a long time since I’ve seen one ) try roughing up the shoes to eliminate slip,if it then works throw in a set of shoes and you are away
