They are just another company advertising local service, blitzing an area with google adwords, taking the work from you and then passing it back to you and taking some of your margin as a fee.

Samsung seem to have a particularly aggressive valve closure,Turn the supply down slightly and that should do it.
I’ve done a few and its fixed it.

We have one doing the same, wont let you access diagnostics at all.
we seem to be having issues with the BLDC motor style machines with locking up,Beko tech say the machine isn’t registering the fill, then someone else at Tech says carry out a factory reset on the board and leave for 2 hours…

My understanding is the average paid to the engineer for the mod is about £40 factor in the cost of the modified parts and logistics etc and I reckon you may have a point .
One thing I found interesting in the last itv thing was that Yate is working at full capacity,I wonder if they did an actual recall rather than a safety notice then would demand outstrip supply, and as production increases they may go down the replacement dryer route anyway

Do Hotpoint engineers reset TOC’s as company policy I wonder (once the cause has been ascertained)

Was the source of the fire at the back Tim or through the filter at the front ,the reason I ask is that one at least wasn’t cremated so may give a better clue to the cause

When I asked him he why he had pointed this out he said so that we knew he hasn’t caused it but rapidly changed it to ‘ prior accidental damage’ as the glass top broke in his hands as he forced the glass plate out of its mountings.

Im confused ,if he pointed the damage out before he touched it then it it has to have been accidental damage prior to repair.
Any engineer would have done the same ,the engineer didn’t cause the damage, even the slightest nick can have an effect on a hob glass.

Timm wrote:My advice – if you ever get a repair guy pointing out anything prior to repair, find out the real reason and take note of our experience before you let them near your pricey appliances

My advice – If you ever get someone doing a repair as a goodwill gesture be grateful ,they have no obligation to do so as your warranty wouldn’t normally cover accidental damage
