Re: Discounted Fuel For The WTA

    Hi
Some folk are still using them ,others have found better prices using the likes of Fuel Genie etc.
There seems to be a huge variation in prices across the board at the moment.
Prices were usually emailed out to individual account holders.
    hope that helps

    Re: Feb 2013 Meeting

Can I suggest the following is sent to those that we know want a stand and any that show an interest ?

Can someone check it for Grammar and wording errors …

Thank you for requesting stand space at the 2013 Whitegoods conference ,If you have joined us previously you will be aware of the size of the venue and the exposure gained to both old and new clients,

If this is your first time with us, for the 3rd successive year we have secured the master ballroom in the hilton hotel at Coventry with an adjoining presentation suite comprising of (BRYAN FILL THIS IN PLEASE ) standspace of 3 mtrs sq
The day is a mix of both presentations and opportunities to browse the stands and network.
The conference attracts a diversity of delegates ranging from sole traders to multi engineer companies ,alongside service managers and directors from manufacturers of whitegoods , both national and multi national ,so the exposure to your products /services is potentially vast .
Obviously the conference facility does not come cheap ,and whilst the WTA subsides some of the cost ,we ask for a donation of £250 towards costs for the day ,you may wish to access your client database to invite them to meet you on the day ,if you do and req any logos etc then please contact WTA admin on admin@whitegoodstradeassociation.org ,

With Regards to charging for stands I had a thought ,If a company is doing a “deal for the day” promotion should we still charge them ?

For example I am about to invite a tools supplier that I hope will bring product to sell on the day,now I know that what they sell would offset what they pay but I need to get them there in the first place ,the same with the Work wear company ,the problem is that we are an unknown quantity to them as we don’t orbit in there world.
    Thoughts ?

    Re: Defra – Re-use forum

Evening all ,What looked like a boring day with government suddenly took an interesting turn when we were asked to stay behind for a quick chat which ended up being a grilling which lasted over two hours ..
One thing that had never occurred to DEFRA is that by repairing machines we prevent them from entering the waste stream and is in turn a form of reuse ,we had a very one sided presentation from Envirocomn about their reuse statistics which are woefully poor, which triggered a thought in my mind re the Weee directive and technical information ,the basic premise of which is that the manufacturers hide behind a clause that states they are only obliged to disclose tech info to people that Re-Use .
If DEFRA recognize repair as a bona-fide form of reuse then the manufacturers are obliged to provide tech info…
Along way off perhaps but it is a start .
The lady talking to us stated that she was disillusioned that the only people interested in reuse were the big recycle-rs and that was because they had a vested interest,we explained that our vested interest was our members ,and further more how the big guys are hoovering everything up nationally ,adding green miles etc ,which was a bit of a revelation to her.
Normally Government stuff takes forever ,but this thing is moving faster than we expected ,it seems we have tapped in to an unknown zeitgeist
The ultimate aim is that no matter how big or small those WTA members that wish can become a DEFRA accredited reuse centre and have the ability to refurb appliances .
The icing on the cake was that we were the only trade association that seemed remotely interested in what they are doing 😀

    Re: Independent Service In Administration?

Just got back in the office and read the above posts,I just want to say thank you for the kind comments,I have to say talking to the people that got to the meeting on Fri it was apparent just how shocked people were about the sad demise of ISDAL,there was a definite feel of well if it can happen to them …

I do want to record my thanks to the WTA team,I think by Friday our phones were going in to meltdown as were we,by drawing together and working as a team we were able to extract the most out of an unforeseen situation for as many as possible and for that I am grateful to the guys,I will add that I dont think that this is over yet.

One thing that has been evident is that whilst unlike previously, some manufacturers are open to working direct with the independents and in some cases are doing just that, others need a little more persuasion, words like professionalism, lack of admin, cust skills, engineer appearance etc have been bandied about, maybe something to think about going forwards..

Finally to answer Ted’s question re DASA, whilst DASA and the WTA have dialogue and have some common goals,There was no dialogue re ISDAL ,as you appreciate It wouldn’t be right for me to speak on their behalf,I am not sure what actions were taken from their organisation with regards to ISDAL, that is a question you would need to ask them.

    Regards
    Lawrence

Hi Martin , I thought that but my guy says loom seems to be okay,it’s got him baffled as well as me , I’ve had a couple of main boards go on these but never a dryer board ,no fault codes either , it’s almost like some kind of corrupt software issue
