The only Hinari thing listed on Seme’s CD (AFAI can find) is a glass turntable for a microwave.

Perhaps those of you who are worried and wouldn’t be able to sleep at night would be best offering your customers the option of an electrical safety check on their installation as an add-on extra to the labour charge.
Your invoice would show whether or not the option had been taken and if fire or shock resulted subsequently the customers who had not opted for the check would have no cause to blame you. (Neither would those who had opted for the check as it was only valid at the time of testing!)
I’m sure there’s scope in there for a few extra pounds to be added to 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all calls and some minds to be able to rest.
For myself I think I’ll carry on pretty much as I always have done doing what checks I think are necessary according to the age and appearance of the installation (rcd/fusebox?) and the vulnerability (small children/elderly?) of the customers.

I did a TOPS course in 1987/88 before I began my self employment. The course was entitled DAPSE which I think stands for Domestic Appliance Service Engineer. I have rarely referred to myself as an “engineer” preferring the term “repairman”.
On that course we were instructed on how and when to do earth continuity and megger insulation tests. No instruction whatever was given regarding how to test for a good earth at the supply socket. I did have one of those plug in polarity testers one time but it fell into disuse and got lost 😳 .
I hope one of you more safety conscious engineers will now come forward and tell us exactly how to check the supply earthing properly, preferably in a way that doesn’t take too long.

Well I went back this afternoon. Turns out it’s an exposed evaporator model after all. Thinking that I had previously fitted a Ranco, I took with me a Hotpoint 250341177. (AKA Gen. Electric) two tag job.
Found the one I had fitted was exactly that 🙄
Anyway, changed it for the new one, explained that if that didn’t work I’ll try and find the specific one for the model. Maybe I had managed to crimp the capillary…..no I can’t find any sign of that. Oh well, wait and see.

Yeah, he waits till I log off to go out and do a bit of work…
Soon as I saw the poster’s name I knew it would be a wind up. 🙄Seriously though, does anybody know where this heap is located? I can see a few good spares in there.

Many thanks for your prompt and very useful reply, Bryan. I’ll go and have a look at it again and come back to you.

Yeah, I read that the first time but it surprised me that the magnet itself made such a difference even though it looked almost ezactly the same!Perhaps it has more, or less, poles?

Hope the ISE will be nice and simple with no excess buttons/displays/programmes few people are ever likely to use.

No way! My bike cost a fiver on the local boot sale. Have been thinking for a long time about getting a new one but what would be the point? I’d have to lock it up every time I left it.

Hey! The “view more emoticons” button is finally working even for me! Now I’m really beginning to feel like I’m catching up.

I fitted a new ‘stat to a Schreiber APM6314 built-in larder ‘fridge back in April. I probably used a VC1 or maybe a VT9 and didn’t keep the old ‘stat or note its number.
Now the customer has been on to me saying it freezes up and they have to keep defrosting it. They haven’t called me till now because they were busy.
Anybody know if I need a particular ‘stat or was it just a dud?
Thanks,

The pot did adjust the spin speed but not very much.
Changing the tacho magnet over from the old armature made a big difference and putting its own coil with it things finally came right. 😀

ParticipantRe: WF225A (Hotper.) stops and flashes.
Checked all boards(visual only),connections, p.sw. tube. Found nothing. Re-assembled. Fault still same.
Referred (kind and understanding)customer to Hotperloni and 5 yr parts g’tee. and walked away, shrugging shoulders. 🙁
Have strong feeling it must be some kind of test mode or something. 😕
