Perhaps I better learn to use this desktop thing first though.

Personally, I use a deep socket and extension bar over the motor shaft to wind these belts on. Dead easy. Don’t tell the punters though.[quote wrote:

OK looks like I’m gonna have to invest in one of them laptop things and a mobile, so I can tap into the support forums when I’m out and about. 😳

    Re: White Knight Belt

I’ve just got back from doing a stretch on a Creda T520VW.

The supplied (genuine) belt was 1860, the original bore the numbers 1866.

Did I have a struggle! The belt fits round the drum when you take it out the packet, without any spare. So you whip it off again and do some of those bullworker exercises with it for a few minutes. “Stretch….and…Hold!” Then you try it again and you try and get some sort of lever in there. But there’s nothing to lever against.
In the end I just had to use every ounce of strength in my hands. (In the end they’re the best tool we’ve got! – Oh Oh, what have I said?)

The second time I did this it stayed on when I turned the drum!

When I had the cabinet half way back together, I noticed the grooves in the belt were on the outside. Luckily I managed to turn it over without it coming off.

Putting the cabinet back together when everything is stretching against the back bearing is not easy either.

I think if you’re selling this belt to a DIY guy you better warn him.

Terrific! I’m gonna have to get an account with them. 🙂

    Many thanks, Dave.

I’ll have to look that up! Perhaps I should get 4 at that price.

    Thanks Mike.

    Martin,
Tacho. I thought that too but he said “during spin” suggesting after it gets underway. And why would he need diagrams?

    Hi,
Don’t have diagrams I’m afraid. With respect, did you check all the concrete fixings for tightness?

    Re: hotpoint intergrated dishwasher

I’ve seen a few Indesits which did this because they were leaning forward far enough to just tip a little water down the twin overflow pipes at the front. Sometimes it was sufficient to activate the FPS. When it wasn’t it would just slowly rust out the motor. Who designs this stuff? 🙁

    Re: Beko Automatic Washing Machine

I’ve got a s/h module off a wm1512s available. Motor was shot. Customer unable to bear 2 week estimated wait. Think I got the timer too.I waive the call out in exchange for parts in cases like this often.(Doesn’t happen too often, fortunately).Guaranteed good £15 incl. post for module. First to see will buy etc. etc. Hope I’m not breaking any rules here.

    Thanks Dave,
I think I’ll ring Frigidaire next week and ask them what their game is.

    Re: PCB Repairs

Another advantage with QER and EMW is you can send it back for a partial refund (50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} QER) if fitted but did not solve problem (i.e. you diagnosed it wrong – of course it’s never happened to me 😉 )
EMW’s 2004/2005 catalogue says “£4.70 handling charge only” for wrong diagnosis. You’d have to check if this is still current.

in reply to: Motor direction #145808

    Re: Motor direction

There is room for some confusion here so maybe I can add to it by saying that with the motor facing away from you, it’s going anti-clockwise when the drum’s going clockwise if you’re looking from the front of the machine.(That’s if you consider the front of the motor to be the pulley end).
I’d suggest try it very briefly each way round and go for the one that looks right in terms of soap dispenser side. (I can’t remember the last time I saw the drawer on the right.

Re: AEG Lavamat 74630-W (“update”?) doorboot

Thanks for that Dave. I’ve got a local distributor for Distriparts who should be able to get it for me so I’ll give him a ring tomorrow. It’s on the Seme CD by the way but you have to tap in LAV followed by the model no. It says £50,but when I rang them they seemed to think that was wrong. I hope so!
