Re: Moffat 4633 oven elements 25yrs old? big things

Using online version. Welcome pack will presumably have DVD in when it arrives. Will I have to 💡 upgrade my PC (1gb hdd, 37mb mem,Pentium2 😥 )?
or can I play it on my tele? (This is the sticks here you know 🙂 )

    Many thanks for your help.

    Just checked again. £30.46 ( srp £65.08 ). Lux alt. from £39.28.
Rang Lux they do it for £37 incl vat!
I’m still waiting for my “welcome pack” from Connect, though my account has been running for 10 days, so maybe I’m not getting the right price yet.
Not too impressed with them so far. 1st order came with 1 out of 2 parts incorrect. Right part still not arrived. If that is representative of their picking, no wonder they have to charge high carriage rates.
    Seme are angels by comparison.
PS I didn’t put that emoticon in there!

    Re: Who designs Whitegoods ?

This is where UKW could really get itself (even more) on the map.

We,and similar organisations in Europe and America, (if they exist) could band together and demand some representation (at the least) in R&D departments. We get closer to customer opinions than any of their expensive market research efforts could ever do.

just pass the cost on to the customer

    Dave.

    Yeah,
I always thought that too. Perhaps it was just because they were a newcomer to whitegoods.Anyway my business benefitted considerably because I didn’t have to keep customers waiting while I built up enough for an order.

Passing the cost on to the customer is putting up the price of a repair. Every other job I go to, the customer says before I start,”If it’s going to cost too much, just tell me and I’ll pop down to C****** and get a new one” Are washing machines heading the same way as kettles, irons and toasters?

ELE 3992 coming up £30+ when I look it up on Connections.

I’m wondering if somebody at Connect reads this forum, sees they’ve only got a couple left and quickly amends the price! (“Saw me coming”).

Anybody know a better value for money source?
    (Qualtex no longer available apparently).

To change complete harness takes about 40 mins no doubt there will be some much quicker.

Finally got this job done today. The cooker was connected to a copper pipe(bottled gas) with no flexible,so a Corgi bloke had to be arranged to disconnect it. Took me quite a bit longer than it took you though there were some other little things to sort out. The greys and blues in that wiring harness were a bit similar too, I don’t know how a colour blind person would have coped.
Not gonna jump at the chance to do another one of those!

    Brian

I have yet to ever run a test programme 😳
Not that I wouldn’t love to it’s just that I’ve not until now had access to the info. (ta,UKW).

I do wonder how I’m going to spend those 15 mins. With some customers there’d be no problem but with new ones who have not learned to trust me yet and might be standing over me with a stopwatch….

Suppose it’s best to request they bring in a nice comfortable armchair and the tea and jaffa cakes nicely arranged on the best china, whilst I carry out this initial very important and highly skilled diagnostic work. 🙂

I think I might find it rather boring though, like waiting for a new Servis washing machine to get into a spin.

If any research and development bods are out there listening, please, please bring back the manual timer.

Not sure,as haven’t installed the new disc yet in order to carry on getting the old terms for as long as possible.

Probably wouldn’t apply to your machine but I found an intermittent thermostat (not thermistor) on a 10 y. o. whirlpool dw the other day.
    Gave same symptom.

I’d been thinking of building one of those for years. Now that guy’s beaten me to it.Not ideal for the smaller kitchen, though.
Excellent way of re-using old goldfish tanks.

    Re: Known Error Codes

HOTPOINT washing machines stuck in “test” mode late models e.g. WF630G with display on fascia.
This is caused when user accidentally pushes on/off and start buttons simultaneously.
To exit test mode press start again > display goes wild>press start again>display settles down >
then press on/off plus start buttons simultaneously and hold for few seconds till display reads “D:end” or “D:off” or similar.
    Machine should now function normally.

Yet to be learned how to conduct test mode.

    Re: Indesit w103 F8 fault

There’s a couple of clues in “error codes” thread.
One says relays may stick on new boards- try tapping them.(lotusray?)
Other says he got 8 flashes on this model and it was a poor fitting thermistor plug on heater.(cornwell40?)
I would have checked pressure switch/vessel if I’d come across the symptoms you describe.

    Re: Hotpoint WF630G washer (18 m. old)

    Ah,thankyou iadom. What a relief!
I had done a search of this site using make+model(after finding nothing in “error codes”)and of course that missed the answer because this model wasn’t mentioned.
Thanks for the warning too 😯 . I wondered why there were six triacs clipped to a chunky heat sink. They certainly let these electronics boffins have their heads, don’t they?Them and the cabinet designers. Pity they never ask us.
I should be going back to this job on Thursday. Not too sure what to charge now. (The poor old dear was half inclined to think she should buy a new machine).

I’ve been getting most of my spares from Seme over the last year or so. It’s been good, especially the free carriage all internet orders over £12.
Sadly, nothing good ever seems to last long. They’ve just hiked it to £25, which for us micro-businesses is significant.
