ParticipantRe: Bosch WFF2000GB/01 motor speed fault
(Just back from major PC failure)
Update on this one.
Checked motor on seperate lead and it worked fine.
Sent timer to QER. It came back with a NEW TRIAC (Come on guys, why didn’t you know this?)and now all works fine.leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: Indesit spider/hub 104513 the bigger one.
Dave,
I was sort of hoping someone might have one available quicker, perhaps in stock even.
When my Qualtex bloke says 10 days, it could be 10 weeks and I’ve told the customer he’s got it in stock ’cause he told me he had. I’m fed up with having to deal with my Qualtex bloke due to these sort of problems.
Thanks for the offer,I’ll get back to you in due course if no quick deal appears, and if the customer agrees to go through some more waiting.leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint TDL60 Tumble Drier
I had a similar problem on a condenser dryer about 2 or 3 y. o.(dunno what model it was). Eventually discovered the reversing timer in the base right near motor. It was a right pain to get at the screws which held it in. Take all your screwdriver options with you.

ParticipantRe: Seme delivery times
So far no problems with Seme delivery times here. 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} next day if order sent by 5pm.
Only problem was with my last order which contained two scart adapters,3 into 1, in place of 2 prs hotpoint brushes. 😕
Rang them. They said keep the adapters (too cheap to be worth returning)
we’ll put the brushes in the post. Sure enough, postman brought them next morning.
£12 min order is good till Oct 1st. I’m told.
To avoid waiting in for courier, I order all heavy parts at one time in so far as possible. (Not so easy now with new min order).
You can normally track a parcel from the parcel no. given on the accounts page.(Ring local DHL depot and they’ll tell you if it’s on its way and what time to expect it.)In contrast Connect are useless. Got my account 14 days ago. Still no welcome pack. One of two “in stock” parts on first order still not arrived despite several phone calls to ultra polite & helpful young man at call centre. 🙁
Anybody want two scart adapters extremely cheap?

ParticipantRe: Zanussi DWS919 dw not drain.
Many thanks to all who helped me with this one.
New impellor arrived today and it has quite obvious reverse blades, so that was indeed the fault.
Cheers,

By the way lmtgowi the three componants bolted to the heatsink are power transistors (MOSFETS or Bipolar) that make up the inverter stage that supply current to the motor phase windings. These are driven by a controller IC.Andy
Thanks Andy,
I wasn’t really looking at the thing in that way when I had it in my hand, just looking for signs of burning!
But if you knew all that already….?
Mike.
PS “three phase DC” ? OMG I didn’t know such things existed and here I am pretending I can fix it!leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: Info request on Merloni hotoint modules
Would that include the WF630G (18 m.old)?
If so, no it’s nothing like them.
It’s something new and threatening!
Iadom reckons the motor runs on 3 phase (see discussion same forum few days back).
Big heatsink with 6 triacs(?) clamped to it.
Don’t remember seeing smd ‘s though.
Looked a lot more robust than Indesit/Ariston ones.
Maybe they were listening to you?
Reckon you’ll love ’em 🙂leavemetogetonwithit

If the rear set of impellor blades are intact
Pulled out motor, found silver foil in entrance to rear chamber. Re-assembled confidently but still no joy. 😥
Rear impellor”blades” don’t “look” damaged but do seem implausibly small. Could they have all been neatly stripped to exactly the same shape or are they always so small?Cheers,Mike.

Are you sure it’s not syphoning?( Check end of drain hose is above fill level.)

Perhaps this is the way to go, tell customers they can pay a few pounds extra and get the part ordered on its own or just add their part to a regular weekly order in which case they might wait longer.I do that already 😉
Dave.
I do it sometimes when the customer insists it’s urgent.

ParticipantRe: Do you prefer electronic timers?
I’ve done some successful repairs on modules but, with the exception of resistors and triacs which are easy to test with meter/ test lamp, the damage has had to be visible in order for me to find it. The difficulty comes with all these things that look like flattened millipedes (microprocessors I think you call them). Even if you’ve made up a test rig for each of many models, you’ll have a job tracking down the fault in those. Also, by the time you get one type/model sussed out, they’ve changed design completely and your knowledge is out of date and your test rig is buried under a pile of others in the garage.(Moan,moan).
What really bugs me is what appears to me to be over-sophistication in these designs. It’s as though they’re just showing off how high-tech they can be but without any real benefit in terms of getting the washing done.
I advise the many customers who ask, to go for simplicity.Despite all my dislike of fancy electronics I’ve been wondering if the real cause of apparent unreliability is that machines are just worked harder these days. Many people have become obsessed with cleanliness so a typical four member family reports “almost daily” use of the machine.
So maybe we’re making a false comparison when we hark back to the good old days ❓leavemetogetonwithit

Close. It’s an old boy. I had told him the job was likely to cost about £100
when I saw the price of £30.46 +vat each. So he’s going to be well pleased that I made him wait! (Only cooks a couple of Fray Bentos pies a week in it and never uses the hob.)
I had tried to persuade him to buy himself a tabletop oven from Poundstretchers for £15, 😳 but he wasn’t keen.leavemetogetonwithit

Please do that. Quantity: two.
I’ll pm you my address.

ParticipantRe: SPARES ACCOUNTS
I am too soft hearted but I do charge a call out fee,so I don’t end up out of pocket.
I have high hopes of the WEEE directive but I’m not overly sure about the wisdom of advocating Miele standards throughout the industry.
There is one advantage of the short life machine which is going to become more important as energy price continues to rise.
A ten or fifteen year old machine is stuck in the technology applied when it was made. Where energy/water use/detergent consumption is concerned that can be expensive long term. (Though the majority of consumers cannot afford to think long term, they just want the washing done now).
I know I’m moaning about electronics on another thread but I’m having second thoughts.I’m inclined to think the decrease in reliability has as much to do with consumer obsession with cleanliness (wash>wear>wash>wear>wash). My ma used to wash once a week, we wore the same shirts every day for a week. Bet there’s not many families do that now. -
