Maybe you should give them a cheque for £25,000, that seems to bring out there best business brain.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Chip Blown on Board
Its probable that more components on the board have been damaged without obvious signs, you would be better locating the cause and replacing that plus the whole pcb.

ParticipantRe: Massive Samsung Recall For Exploding Fridges!
Best think to happen to a Samsung is to burn it, I guess even the fridges themselves have decided to commit suicide rather than be subjected to more internal probing. 😆
I had to laugh at the women who commented that an £800 fridge should not have faults.
Hello, its not an £800 fridge, it probably cost around £200 to make and ship, the rest is profit. :rolls:
Currys near me was selling Samsung American fridges on sale for £499 in December 09. Maybe she is a John Lewis client. 😆

Card payments also bring a lot of regulation with regards the persons financial security on the info you have taken.
Personnally I judge a persons ability to pay by there home I’m in.
I also no there home address and I own a baseball bat.

ParticipantRe: The Martin Conundrum
I got banned on an expat site last week, seems that if you have an opinion beyond the general concensus your jumped on as being a troll, aparantly in that forum if enough people complain to the mods they prefer to eject the person for the “Good” of the site.
Although to have a disscussion full of one view and hundreds in agreemnet is very boring and unhealthy, sheep syndrome is great if their right, but when there obviously wrong it should not be deemed wrong to disagree.
I guess hits mean revenue, so people power prevails.
So sad, govt policy also seems to be going the same way, to question is wrong, we should all agree with each other, it will help make a peaceful world.

ParticipantRe: Knee Pads
I use Goodyear trousers with pockets for knee pads, they also have more pockets than I have tools to place in them and I use Dickes pads.
You cannot notice the pads, but I usually only place them into the trousers on jobs that require kneeling.

ParticipantRe: The Price Of Fuel
Last week in Spain my OH was paying 0.96 cents a litre on unleaded.
The exchange rate to the Euro is around 1.05 so its not that is a factor.
Gordon though has to pay back his borrowing via tax and it seems the business sector gets the privilage.
I’d like to know which bank lends money to the UK, I thought there was a crisis around the worlds banking sectors, so who lends to countries ?

Simply write asking for payment within 7 days, if nothing sent write a further letter with “NOTICE TO DEBTOR OF INTENT TO ISSUE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS” and include No legal action will be taken until seven days after the date of this letter pursuent to section 69 of the County Court Act 1984. The claim will be for recovery of £…… plus statutory interest and costs.
If they still ignore then issue summons as it is, I believe, a criminal offense to issue a cheque with the intent of not paying and viewed very badly by a judge, if they respond asking to pay by instalments that can be viewed differently and you should accept a payment scheme that is not to soft.
I reguarly get paid by cheque and never had an issue to be honest.

ParticipantRe: Advertising with BT Customer Street Websites
The best form of advertising is clients passing your details around, word of mouth is priceless, but also time consuming.
Internet WWW helps but its not something that I rely on for revenue, it just helps to look as if your in it for a career and not for a quick buck.
Having said that now a lot of Watchdog customers have a top notch web presence. 😆
I try not to over promote myself as I don’t trust deals myself, my impression of free call out and percentage off for OAPs is a waste as nobody should believe them, a bit like Yell promises.

ParticipantRe: is this too expensive?
If you need that many why don’t you source graded wholesale appliances.

ParticipantRe: just when you think you have heard it all
If I wasn’t in the industry I would believe these to be fabricated.
I’ve been in the industry long enough to know that there are many many numpties around.
I just had a call from some idiot, 9.35pm and he wants to pop his Hoover Tumble dryer round to my place, now.
First word on the phone he speaks “Hi Mate”, so I no its one of those dciks, so I’ve just trebled the labour charge to which he replies “your having a laugh mate”, yes I am, goodbye and hung up. 😆
Which is why my adverts never have my correct address. 😉
I had some woman a few months back ring me at 7pm, didn’t answer but listened to the message, “I’ve just tried to drop my Iron at your address but I cannot find the building, can you contact me ASAP as I should be near you”.
My Sister is a mobile hairdresser and has the same issue with a certain {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the population.
I’m curious as to why these idiots believe we work at night. 😯

ParticipantRe: Advertising with BT Customer Street Websites
I signed up with Yell once on the promise of being No1 in the area, 2 months later I was no 16.
What I have learn’t is if there calling you there calling everyone else and if everyone else say’s yes there not going to turn them away.
Lots of small print and clever sales people who don’t lie, they just don’t tell you the way there going to screw you and if you don’t ask the right questions or have little knowledge you are fair game and likely to waste your money, I did with Yell.
You also get a lot of time wasters, I regularly had calls at 8pm asking for stupid repairs or unwilling to pay a call out.
A web developing friend of mine charges £300 for a web set up with it optimised to No 1 spot, but its not guaranteed because there is no such thing as the no1 spot as there is no control over the position, another web developer can place another business in your area straight after yours.
The top spot is the holy grail, which is why major companies employ IT people to constantly monitor and update the position.
BT has the man power to do it, so it could work for you, but its a lot of money to get wrong compared to doing it yourself with a developer.
If you can afford to loose £700 do it, if not look for cheaper alternatives, it may take some time, but you could save several hundred and get a better coverage with better responses.
These type of calls rely on people not knowing a great deal about web development etc and can seem very attractive, it isn’t that difficult and there are plenty of small web developers self employed.
Im a fan of small business, there are just as many decent web developers out there and you get in with them, they’ll pass on your name to there clients and vice versa.
Ask yourself this
Would you pay Repaircare £125 to repair your fan oven not heating or call you out and have it done for far less. 😉

ParticipantRe: How would you design a washing machine?
I guess it would depend on what I wanted or what the client requires.
I would want a machine that had easy access to most components and would break down every two weeks without the client complaining. 😆
The old Phillips machines tended to be fairly reliable, my mummy had the original door seal on it from the time I was three until I left home in my 20’s.Never needed repair, went for nearly 25 yrs without a single faulty.
Thank god there not made like that anymore.
If I wanted to make any money on an appliance it would have a great wash programme, be simple to use and would require a regular 12 monthly service on components that only had an 14 month life, that would ensure it never technically broke in the eyes of the idiots and would ensure a good income from regular service calls.
That is the future, a brilliant machine that never breaks but still generates part income and service.
Genius.

I had a customer who stated she checks the pockets of the clothes, argued black and blue that she did it everytime and still it was not her fault the spark plug from her mechanic husbands pocket which lodged itself on the drum was a design fault.
