The one thing about large groups though is there price…….Wow.
I did a quote recently out of curiousity, all they wanted was make, postcode and quoted £116.00 without knowing the fault.
All I can say is if there getting calls there must be some really dumb people around. 😆
Considering there not the ones doing the repair how can we slag off bankers, at least they actually do the work there paid for.

One grip I have is that members here complain of part difficulties and pricing from the likes of JTM and Connect, yet both groups offer repair options through the internet.
Something they would have difficulty with if the internet finished today.
In my town there used to be 5 trade suppliers within 10 miles, they used to deliver within a day and if one didn’t have stock the other would and if that was out of stock there was always WashVac or Electrue.
QER modules used to get a lot of business as well and I honestly can’t remember clients waiting more than a week for a spare.
Now the Internet allows companies to track a user around the internet and monitor which sites you use etc etc.
Why do people not realise that the prices differ from connect, see above, those members with lots of accounts and visit lots of alternatives probably will find the price from connect lower than those with fewer options.
For me the benefits are less, the 5 trade suppliers have all gone and I’m limited to availability and the people offering have little competition, so prices differ and they also offer a repair service aimed at removing me from the picture. 😥

ParticipantRe: Extravagant energy saving claims?
Thinking is dangerous, it makes people question reason.
In a modern society full of rules and regulations that is the last function you want people doing.
I blame the Internet.
Seriously the world in 20yrs is going to be one strange place.
The cultural generation tags associated with peoples mentality, generation Z is far far far different in thinking to the current generation in power, that being X and Y.
Most parents are fed up with young childrens behaviour, there inability to carry out basic daily tasks without constantly being told is creeping in to the Z generation.
Generation Z have an inability to function away from the media and a far easily controlled by the content within that media.
We have all joked about the kids programming the VCR, now that has gone far further, now there slowly becoming incapable of simple tasks, such as hands on repairs.
I worked with a kid on the weekend, it took him nearly 3 hours to remove a set of plugs and oil filter on a simple motor, took him about 5 minutes on a laptop to setup diagnostics, tune etc. :rolls:
So to get back on topic it is going to be very difficult explaining the content of there computor is a load of old tosh when there so confident it is not. 😉

If only the internet could pop out of the screen and fix it for them.
it would be such a perfect world.
I’m having one of those old fart days wishing it was the 80’s again, when people would ring you, you call, give price and do job, without all the hassle.
As long as all the local guys kept prices the same there was enough around for all to just make a decent living.
Now its getting to the point I’d be better off stacking shelves overnight in Asda’s. 😥
I was watching on BBC2 a prog about the internet and its beginings and how the internet was suppost to pan out.
It was supposed to open up markets and allow growth in trade.
Personnally I believe its used to bring down business.
Worst invention ever me thinks. 🙁

I found the best way to deal with JTM was via my solicitors and the local court. 😉

Another day and another broken promise regarding the collection of return parts. This time I was given a collection number too…the saga continues chaps. :rolls:
I have a good source that believes it’ll be sorted. 😆

Interesting this states,
The new 0800 brand was launched in July 2009 formerly known as (JTM contracts) and the company currently undertakes over 100,000 repairs of white goods for its customers.

Are you running tub empty or with load, could be out of balance detection.
If empty still no spin I’d try a motor.

ParticipantRe: Samsung P1497 Have You Had This Fault….
It could be logic control, although sold as a quick wash the appliance could be adjusting to the dirt still detected in the water.
I’m only assuming as I don’t have tech info for the appliance, if it finishes without fault indication could be normal.

ParticipantRe: JTM again!
Maybe JTM are trying to bring in some much needed cash before it goes tits up.
How would that leave the 0800 guys, screwed by there own screwdriver I assume.

If you read the site they explain that an experienced Service Engineer may not be offered an opportunity.
You have to pass 2 interviews. :rolls:
I’d pass on that and go straight to MI5, they have a better pay scheme, easier selection process and you don’y pay them to join. 😆

ParticipantRe: JTM again!
You have to ask why two businesses under one roof are so opposite then.
Maybe JTM management really are stupid, maybe they believed they could walk into the board rooms offering a premium service with 0800, getting rid of the need for manufacturers to have a service dept or unreliable contract network.
I doubt that is the plan.
I’m putting my cash on a sellout.
The holy Grail of the service industry is a major outfit offering premium service UK wide.
Its been tried and failed many times, the only piece of uniqueness with 0800 is the silly American way and CRB checks. 😆
To any 0800 Franchise I’d read the sticky on Trade and Work Vacancies it explains how working contracts can be a headache and usually fail, there is no mention of franchise, but if you deduct your payments to JTM for all the equipment etc, I’d be surprised if you earn more an hour than the minimum wage.

ParticipantRe: JTM again!
I’m not slagging off the people who take out the franchise.
:rolls:
Them I’m givng free advice, what they do with it is up to them.
JTM are building up 0800 for a number of options, that is obvious.
I’d bet there building up a big enough client base to bring in a buyer for the business, such as Centrica or some other group.
Anybody with a business brain is aware Franchises are in most cases a waste of time.
Subway, Mcdonalds all are making big bucks selling the franchise, equipment etc, there is very little profit in selling hamburgers, bread rolls and within our industry the only people making any decent living is the small business, all the big boys are in it for a few yrs and then the cycle ends and begins.
I’ve been in the business many yrs, worked for the likes of Homecare etc etc.
How many times did those guys ring us to inform our wages were not going to be paid before they went tits up.
Free call out and estimates are not new, people were doin that in the 80 and 90’s, in this decade though people are more aware that the costs of running a business need to be met and if its a free callout the charge is in the labour.
But I’d be damned if I’m going to pay £25,000 to be told how and when I can wipe my arse. 😆
