What a mess though. And to think that the electrical industry is snorkeling in regulations and law and training….. and yet this still happens. So all the regulation in the world won’t stop human beings being stupid. (think there’s another thread around here banging on about that……. 😉 )Steve.
Your confused.
This is why you need all the above.
Save time asking all the head scratching questions.:D

Cockroaches live in abundance in Europe. Many Neff/Balay induction hob pcbs have l replaced thanks to there taste in accomodation. As common if not more than wood lice in the UK.

ParticipantRe: Experience Vs Training.
A couple of days ago & purely by coincidence looking for my next adventure, must be gypsy blood, I searched for jobs in Canada as an appliance technician.
The Canadians have a system where all tradesmen study and train in their chosen profession and receive Inter provincial Standard Endorsement (Red Seal) qualification. Whilst not compulsory most employers want it and for outsiders coming to the country it is a good starting point as it allows experienced people to sit the exam. There is no regulatory body such as Gas Safe and no registration fees.

Off course not Lee as well you know. Your 20 days is ample for a basic grounding that most manufacturers (including your outfit) would initiate. During that time a persons aptitude would be easily assessed before he or she were allowed out in the field. After which they are accompanied by a senior engineer until such time as they can be let out on their own. All the while monitored on a call by call basis. That’s how it works, I know it ,you know it.
Yes we both know it, but currently someone maybe employing peeps with no previous experience, no qualifications & less then 10 days classroom training and no further training and no accompaniment whatsoever.
To respond to your previous post, I’m asking not about attitude or lack of work ethic, but people unable to work because they have no idea what there doing. That is my point.

DrDill you got my point, i’m trying to get a view from a clients point of view, in a way, but from people with a technical understanding of our industry. If that makes sense.
Would 20 days or less make a person competent to work on appliances without any electrical qualification or any other measure of understanding.

No experience. Just theory and let loose.

ParticipantRe: Where do these people come from?
One company has a solution to the issue, since there convinced complaints are a staff issue they have introduced a scheme of surveying clients after a visit. Points are awarded and that means the staff or rather dogs a rewarded with a treat.
Only problem is the staff getting less points are now telling tales on other staff, so as too look better.
So now both staff and clients are complaining.

The fact so many complain means most call centres are fed up of listening to the stories and most are ignored.
Apart from one company who believes they know how, the crap recently hit the fan as they got in excess of 30,000 complaints.
The top dog now personnally reads the complaints. Hope the investors dont find out, all that time reading complaints from what most of us would describe as chav’s with few brains and large mouths may result in some financial issues. Afterall the real people now shop at John Lewis.
