    Re: electrical safety testing ?

The problem is not the guys who are in the trade, it never has been, its the DIY and the guys working on the side

My point is no matter the law, legislation or overseeing bodies created it does not stop these people.

Gas Safe and Part p have been around now for years and its not made any difference, its just caused the legit guys a hell of a lot of cost and headache, there are more people working on the side now more than ever.

Just a note, breaking Any speed limit is deemed a Criminal offence, the punishment is far less than you would expect for normal crimes but its still officially a crime

    Re: electrical safety testing ?

The simple fact is regulation does not make any difference, I can go online and buy a gas valve for a boiler, fit it and there is nothing in place to stop me, yes it’s illegal as I’m not gas safe but do I care ? Driving at 40 in a 30 is also illegal ?

All regulation does is cost the reputable guys as they follow the rules, your Micky the gas or John the sparks who does a bit on the side does not care, this was one of the reasons I got away from the electrical work as I was spending £400 a a year on registering and paying each time with part P and billy down the road who was doing work on the side was under cutting me, no insurance no costs.

I agree in the perfect world every one would play ball but it simply does not happen.

At the end of the day you have to look at the whole picture, any manufacture can have this kind of issue but what is absolutely worrying is you have a company that has 3 separate products that have a major problem that can lead to fire or death.

It shows something is badly wrong somware with in Beko.

It’s Interesting that they are repositioning them, if it was purely a bad batch of capacitors you would expect it to be just a direct swap out.

Capacitors don’t generally get hot but they are often thermally rated and can produce some heat.

Possably a combination of bad capacitors with poor ventilation

Yep as has been said its blocked. It can’t pump The water out via the sump so the spin forces it out of the draw,

First UNPLUG the machine as all the electrics are under there, The sump is located under the machine towards the back. The big rubber black thing with a clear tube attached to it.
Inside is a plastic filer and a ball. Undo the large clip and remove and clear rubbish, when you refit it all the plastic sump cage only goes on 1 way so make sure it clips in

Have you washes any new towels or bath mats recently ?

Was there any corrosion on the wash NTC connector.

Normally its F13 if its the drier thermistor located in the heater box, ios suggest its possibly intermittent wiring to the wash Ntc in the heater,

I would replace both wash and drier NTC part number c00083915 will do both but they have upgraded the drier one to c00290251 as they have had a few issues with it so is get one of each and do both.

If you still get the problem I’d go with the harness.

Re: dryer fire on bbc news this morning

Lets be honest an manufacture can cave issues, the drier one I believe is a capacitor issue, this is a bought in part so you can’t say its a Beko design issue, its more a an supply issue and perhaps buying from untrustworthy suppliers, no one can foresee what will happen in 12 months or 3 years stuff happens.

I worked in the IT industry in early 2000 for a few years and there was a spate of capacitors on the motherboard that would fail after a short period of time, it hit almost every make including people like Dell, Intel, HP and others, in the end it was caused by Industrial espionage in Taiwan but it does show it can happen to any company no matter how big or small

It is scary that drier can be bought, chucked in a Garage and used 5 hours a day or 3 years and never get the lint removed then when it goes up its instantly the manufactures fault.

When I’m asked about using machines when out or un supervised I all ways tell the not to, washing machines and dishwashers are most likely to flood in the event of of a problem, fires are rear but with driers its a far larger risk

People are often surprised they they should not leave them

Tbh welded tanks are a far easier job than bearings on a V1 or v2. Even the newer machines where the front does not come off you put the machine on its back and slide it out the top.

As for working hours I’d bet most employed Indesit lads are home before the self employed, they don’t get it that bad 😉

robbra wrote:On BBC news this morning. Beko says it all! Why are they allowed unfettered access to the EU when they are outside it?

    What was that on ?

I know a certain Italian manufacture is very concerned about Beko, as they are outside the EU they do not have the any of the same legislation to follow and as such there staff costs are substantially lower, even when the open a factory in a non eu country they still have to follow it as they are EU based, Beko can sell for less that Indesit can build it for.

It does make you wonder about the whole free market thing as as being a reason to be in the eu it seems its free for everyone.
