    3 kids and a 6kg machine

    No chance of overloading then

Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

it’s likely Employed engineers are able to do what ever is needed to make it work as they are not going to walk out the door leaving it not working so if that’s a new heater or belt then I suspect it will be done. They aren’t going to do anything silly with all this press.

That’s how it’s been in the passed I believe.

That’s not going to happen with contractors though.

Your going to want a decent supply of belts, jockey wheels and front bearing pads

As for the panels that makes sense as there are 3 different versions, vented, condenser and the Aqualtis type.

To be fair if it’s used correctly there is no problem in my experience, I have done so many of these over the years.

vented driers sitting on carpet with no feet, blocked outlets or torn hoses, filters torn, condensers blocked, massive overloading, people seem to think hay it’s fine to abuse it then when it goes up its the companies fault.

I have 2 kids and my HP vented had 3 years solid use and not one bearing change, belt snapped or any real lint buildup, I have several in the family and iv not had to touch them, why ? Because iv told everyone what they need to do to keep them working.

after seeing this I pulled the back off my parents 5 year old condenser one to see and nothing , not even 1mm of lint.

You can go to ones that have been used correctly and there is hardly any lint in them, then you do to others and it’s everywhere.

IMO it’s not that the design is bad it’s that if misused then it’s susceptible to bad things happening

If you kick a dog then it bites you who’s fault if that ?

This is a very big undertaking indeed, I have had so many phone calls about it.

Worth checking it anyhow Iv only seen it on the 3ph machines but it’s not to say it won’t be the same on brushed motors.

Is it three phase machine by any chance? I have found a very odd thing on the later Arcadia Indesit boards. If the tacho signal is missing it will start, tumble a few times then stop and count down. On the older stuff the motor would just rev but on the new stuff it tumbles just a few times then stops. Also the tumble speed is a little quicker than normal. I spent hours on one doing this one days and found the tacho wires were damaged at the motor. Have seen it several times since.

    Check the motor wiring.

First thing once it has entered an alarm condition(flashing lights) it will not reset it’s self it will enter a maintaining mode and not fully refreeze. It will keep existing stuff just frozen but not cold enough to freeze fresh stuff. This is to prevent everything thawing if you were away. You need to reset the alarm by turning all controls knobs to fully off for over 10 seconds then back on and it should return to normal operation. If it then alarms again from there you will have a problem,

Is the fan running ? If the fan is frozen it will alarm every few days as its unable to circulate the cold air around the cabinet.

If it’s the type with the evaporator at the top of the freezer with a grill rite below the controles then I’ll bet it’s iced up. Seen loads of them doing it for no real apparent reason. The early ones the defrost heater was not reaching the drain hole but the later ones that’s been resolved. I’d do a full defrost first and go from there. Note it could take a few days for all the ice to melt in the back end if your not stripping It down

There is also a recall on that dishwasher. Go on hp website and put in the details and check it.

    Re: Interlock basics

What’s the part number of the lock ? It’s either the instant lock ending in 755 or the std one . It’s very odd for a door lock to kill all power on a HP. The motor and pump is wired through it but not mains in. Also check your putting the plug in the correct way some have to be reversed to work. The new versions also can have different PIN numbers. The old lock has 3,4,5 and the new one has 2,3,4. On these you wire it 2-3 3-4 and 4-5.

It’s a non uk model from the looks of it hence its not on part finder . Guessing some one imported it or a load of them,, I have seen that model before under hotpoint brand but for the life of me can’t remember the model. Do the touch screen light up blue ?

If it’s the one I think it is it has 3 modules. A touch screen one, display and main control module. I’d bet you have blown the main PCB when you earthed out the light

Hotpoint VTD00 Vented dryer leaking water from front

Air is leaking into the cabinet and the moisture is condensing on the cold steel. Is if vented externally ?

Check you vent pipe is clear and not crushed or blocked and the air from the drier is going outside, put your hand over the vent outside and you should have a good flow of air when it’s on.

Finally did you refit the black pipe back in correctly that goes from the front air duct to the rear panel when the hose connects as this can also cause it

The problem with this what is classed as reasonable. Bearings fail after 2 years of hard use , 5 washes 7 days a week is that classed as excessive ? Where does manufactures state how much use it’s designed to have ?

When you sell a machine do you state how often it’s designed to be used ?

    Re: Hotpoint WMAL 621P

I could be it needs resetting after the pump being blocked, put few jugs of water in the drum and set it on the wash cycle, it then should pump it out and reset the pressure switch level empty .

However it may need to be reprogrammed, Iv had countless numbers of them that would stick in a non working state after a pump blockage, only was to resolve was to reprogram the module.

That’s an odd fault not seen it before, I suspect board issue, get it out and inspect the pcb for any thing that looks odd. Iv seen a lot of slugs on these boards get fried and kill blow the module, you can then get all sorts of bizarre faults.
