First check the motor brushes as this will give door error. I know it don’t make sense but it often it. Next the door lock would be next but it can often be the board in this situation as well. Iv seen door locks take boards out regular , Motor brushes are first port of call though

Will be low on charge. The system feeds the evap in the freezer first the into the fridge. Often the freezer will hold fine as there is enough charge to keep that evap going.

    Re: Indesit bought

last i heard Indesit Service employes 700 or so full time engineers, they try to run a 60/40 split. far larger than what WP uk have, if i was a betting man looking at the size of WP uk id bet it would be integrated into Indesit rather than the other way, in the UK anyway,

WP can’t just loose all of that overnight, move it all to contract possibly over time, who knows. this is a big thing and no one will know how it will pan out

Edit, just spotted WP main EU office is also in Italy

    Re: Indesit bought

Having read about at a bit its looking like they intend to take the lot and delist from the stock market, they are planning in closing the deal by end of year subject to regulatory approval . Pretty major this and how it will pan out no one knows. Don’t see it affecting the UK service side much as I believe that makes money in its self. Now will WP will let it run as an independent company or it will get swallowed up as part of WP only time will tell. One thing for sure the Italians and going to loose out badly in this. No longer an Italian company and as such no need to protect home production.

Re: HOTPOINTtumble dryers (the belt breaking bearing muncher

Personally I think your trying to solve a problem that don’t exists. The belt only snaps if the drum jams or the customer opens the door before the drier has done the cooling at the end of the cycle, overloading can have an impact but that eats the rear bearing, Iv had a HP vented drier personally for 5 year with 2 kids and Iv still never changed the rear bearing, I stripped it last year to remove lint and the bearing was hardly worn.

If the belt is snapping regularly its either Jamming and look for reasons for that or overloading/ misuse. Rapid bearing use is overloading.

As for the new drums you can drill the shaft off. Use 8 or 10mm bit and from the back drill the heads off the rivets and you can remove the whole plate and bolt the shaft on from the kit. One note on a very new one recently the holes underneath for the three bolts did not line up I just drilled it to suit.

Indesit widl126 not drying but wetting

As has been said that tank is the condenser, water from the valve enters the top and flows down the condenser down to the bottom of the drum, this water then gets pumped out, it should not reach the level of the inner drum

Put it on dry cycle empty and look through the door and see if water is visible in the bottom of the tank after a few minutes. The condenser valve should run then the once the water level reaches just below the inner drum it should pump out. The water should not reach the inner drum and be visible as it will wet the clothes, Check the sump for a blockage. Seen a sock sitting on top of the OKO ball do it, also you said you swapped the valves around that won’t work as the condenser valve has a restricted flow rate, I have seen these fail and let in to much water resulting in the same thing water reaching the inner drum.

    Check sump and pump first.

On basic home laundry skills you won’t see much over £21k even on the top pay scale, the scale is based on product skills and what they believe your competence is. 4 levels, basic engineer, skilled, senior and technician. Then there is skills , basic is WM/WD,TD & DW then there is more money when you do cookers or refrigeration and gas. I saw the pay sheet years ago I don’t think its changed much apart from rises. top line for tech with all skills as around £26k

As for doing more than 6 a day it comes with time and experience on the product. Yes its a lot of drums these days but that’s the way it is and its only going to get worse. The v2 are fading out and your seeing lots of 2010 onwards machines with bearings all welded tanks, being a subbie I only get paid for what I complete so Iv got to watch for what’s coming in and make sure Iv got drums. Holding a decent stock my self these days. Give it 12 months and you will get used to the v2 and v1 calls. Don’t get into the habit as seeing bearings as a bad call as once you have that mindset it’s all over and you may as well leave, to many guys decide what they are to do and not do before leaving there house in the morning.

Work is work, bearings, door handles, seals makes no difference to me its all work and money, just get it done and move on.

Yep seen it a few times. You remove the blockage but it just wont reset. Only way I seen is to reprogram the module unfortunately.

Re: Late model Hotpoint washer dryer, any known recalls?

The TOC is in the heater but not sure of the rating. I have seen lifters melt when the relay on the board has failed or a slug has decided to make the module its new home. The way it was put to me when I made some enquiries was the TOC will prevent fire but a slow gradual increase in heat can go beyond its rating and could melt the drum or lifters. Iv seen the same thing with wash heaters as well.

Its a bit like overloading an MCB, you could easily draw 20-25A through a 16A MCB if you build the load up. A fast 30A short and it would trip over but slow gradual increases in current and they don’t always go.

Any problems with the door cable contact indesit as its officially a recall and listed on Recall UK website, should be a FOC repair

It powers the heater on the LH door, the flat bar that flips when its closed to prevent condensation forming.
