I’m here still lol. Simple answer to all this. If money is taken back then there will be a problem.

Although I doubt that will happen. I’m sure this will be sorted by next Wednesday. To everyone satisfaction.

    Re: The 0800 Thread

I’m just not sure 0800 proclaim to be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes it’s a fact of life. Can’t see how a customers wouldn’t know that before they pick up a phone.

I ain’t got a problem with free enterprise at all. There is plenty of work out there for everyone. My best mate is my rival. We laugh about and try to out do each over. Sometimes if I’m short of a part I buy from a local indie. Someone got to do the work it ain’t always going to be 0800.

Can’t see a day without agents at 0800. Really can’t. For me it’s the best of both worlds that work.

If your wondering why a change of attitude but not of opinion this has gone on too long.

Time maybe for a truce and see what actually happens. Could be a lot of anger and stress for no reason.

Allsorts on behalf of 0800 Repair. I am sorry you met and engineer that didn’t show respect to a member of the public. As a franchises of the company it is not within the interests of the company to recieve complaints of this nature. I can tell you that the matter is being investigated. And action will be taken.

I hope this brings a conclusion to the issue.

    Re: The 0800 Thread

Allsorts. Wasnt me. If I’d have been on the receiving end I to would be very annoyed. I would have called 0800 repair. If you had done that believe me they would deal with it for sure. Personally I would get out my van to confront another member of the public. I have done the above many times over the years. On a occasion ive even rang the police.

On your website. I was simply pointing out that anything can be spun to ones advantage. Nothing personal. I would imagine you do a good job. And like 0800 there is most definitely a place for reworked machines. By the way I’m 35.
Come on people cannot expect to throw dirt and not receive any back. But I am sorry for offending you.

Ade. My understanding is 0800 rely heavily on indies and I’m not sure that will change. Well not drastically. Although some agents on here IMHO should be carefull what they say. I mean would you give work to someone who slags you off? Not saying it will happen just an observation .

I was offered my area 1 because I live there and two they needed me to do it as they had experienced my work ethos. they had a problem and needed it covering.

    Re: The 0800 Thread

Again I hear you. But I worked for indesit as a franchise and tbh they were giving them away yet still they couldnt get as many as they want. There are three types people in the working world. The employed, the self employed, and the employer. There will always be those who do not want to £20k. Personally I cannot see every engineer for us being a franchise. Nice idea but I don’t think it will happen. Personally if the arse fell out of this trade tomorrow. I wouldn’t borrow 20k to buy a franchise in something I know nothing about. In saying that the trade does need new blood and it is another way in.

Personally I would like to see every franchise with at least 5 years experience. But I can say this, one of my fellow franchises as been doing this now for over 2 years. And if he lived near me I would employ him if he wasn’t a franchise. May be the exception who knows. It was also his money to spend and no one can tell someone how to spend there money.

I would also say that an air conditioning engineer/ stair lift engineer and raf helicopter engineer are more then suitable to change trades and become a appliance engineer. In fact id go as far as saying compared to 15 years ago machines are easier to repair now. And that the majority of franchises are in fact experienced appliance engineer. 2 from Hoover/mfi. 1 from servis, 2 from comet. And then me mfi/ indesit and anyone who would give me work. There is another but I don’t know him but again experienced.

Yes I hear you ade. How many people out there have the dosh to by a franchise anyway. You may be correct in what your saying. Logic would suggest you right. But it would take years and years to fill every area in the country. Tbh I’m not even sure there are enough guys out the to fill the gaps. As I said before very few people enter this trade. And 0800 are addressing that. It’s a bit too early to predict world domination yet mate. One thing is for sure they are here to stay. And if it goes tits up then I will move on and start again.

I’m just not sure that all this is needed at this time. Lots if buts an maybes at the moment.

And as I said before its easy to throw stones at glass house but one should be mind full of what gets thrown back. Not a threat just reality.

Omg I can just see people now thinking Im being threatening. honest I’m not.

In all honesty I do not know the answer to what happens to eng x. In my case I was engineer x. I had the work as an agent. But my circumstances changed so I took the franchise.

My guess would be that the answer to your question ade would be depends on how good agent x is. No one would want to lose a good agent, I’m sure. Although I could also see some agents services no longer being required.

    Re: 0800 Repair

Judging by the post from alsorts then that would be incorrect aly.

He knocked on his door give it the charley big spuds and lost his bottle run back to get a photo and got that response. I do not condone it as the engineer acted like an idiot but if only the engineer got a picture in return.

I paid the 20k does that make me an idiot. If I told you the profit in the last fin year you would see why I did, 10-12 calls a day 5-7 on a Saturday. Do the math. I will be debt free in 1 year. That’s personal debt, the franchise was paid off after 6 months, No overdraft.

Although I could have give it to yell I suppose.
