Foolproof way to test any pressure hose for leaks. Simply place one end in your mouth. Immerse the far end in water and blow. Reverse hose to test other half. Remember mending punctures in your bike?

Genuine Bosch brushes tend to stick. Before fitting, ease the brush in and out several times, checking for tightness. If it is tight, extract it and look at the narrow sides. You will see where it has been rubbing, ease it a little with emery cloth , and re-try. Dont overdo it.

    Re: Almost dead Beko

This seems to occur when operator changes prog selector during operation. Try this. Select a wash prog switch on. press start. you should now have only the wash light lit. If the light to the right of wash is lit also, you have not yet cleared previousprog. If only wash light is lit, it should then fill. Had this today. Machine now fills and agitates, but no heat. heater tests ok. going back tomorrow.

That would sound about right. But maybe the Arabs are struggling with oil down to a mere 50 dollars a barrel…

    Re: ‘Search’problems

I am not noted for my computer skills, and the above info will be useful to me. I feel that the info
contained in the forums could be much more useful if you could categorise it, e.g. bring up all faults for a particular make and model of washing machine. Maybe we could have more forums, say one for washing machines, one for washer dryers, one for tumble dryers., and so on. I too have suffered from the problem of only being able to access one page per search. Maybe its just me, but perhaps someone could post an idiots guide to searching the Forums.

Re: BEKO WMA 510W Slow Programs

Went back today. Customer said { I think, poor English] that she had done aprewash plus 60 degree normal wash. This had taken just over 3 hours and she seemed happy. So hopefully, end of story.

Thanks for that Mike. Called back today to check, and guess what? About a yard of waste hose stuffed down the stand pipe! She is going to try it tomorrow, so I will call in and see How it went. Fingers crossed, and I think you were right Mike.

    Re: resistor values

First try a 18k resistor, and if leds do not light, try the 1.8k. To do it by calculation, You need to know the resistance of the two leds when lit. Why not light them with a 6volt battery, and measure the surrent flow. Then use ohms law, R=V devided byI to give the resistance. Assuming the mains is 220 volts, the resistor in question needs to be about 35 times the resistance of the leds because it needs to drop 35 times the voltage.[35 x6=210 so actually 36 is nearer the mark] hope this helps. Ther are cleverer blokes out there than me, but that is what I would do.

To quote a well known saying ” if you havent tried it dont knock it.” But seriously, dont try this at home. I remember reading about some guy who sustained serious injuries from a vacuum cleaner like this.

    Re: Bosch Dryer WTA4007GB/07

Tackled the job today. Used Daves method with a slight variation . I could not seem to get the belt round the fan. Instead, I removed the motor mounting bolts 2 at a time, and slipped the belt under the motor. It is necessary to unplug the motor wiring, to get the belt past it. Ensure that the motor is re bolted in its original position, as the holes are slotted. After winding the belt on, check by feel that the belt is on the grooved [pulley] section of the motor shaft. Thanks again Dave.

I did check brushes in situ with multimeter. Would worn brushes cause the rinse light to stay lit?
