ParticipantRe: Bosch wvt12842gb/07 sparking motor & no drain
Thanks for the advice Martin. Wiring was ok, but found some burning on the power control PCB after battling to get it out. Given the astronomical price of the PCB the customer decided to bin the machine.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool FRBB36AF20/2 Forced Defrost
Many thanks. It didn’t go into defrost when it started up, and the compressor stayed on. So, I’ll stick a new board in.

Thanks Bryan. That would be greatly appreciated.
In case it’s of any use, the details taken from the main wash element are ETA 40.11.290 1850w D-91.

You’re a star Colin. It was indeed a split along the spray arm joint. 😀
Many thanks,

Thanks Colin. I will certainly take a much closer look at the spray arm.

ParticipantRe: Ariston XF905 79/22018/00/00 Oven Door Hinges
Sadly no joy. Got a call today to say they don’t actually have them in stock 🙁 Any other ideas of where to get some from, or whether there is an upgrade path from these fixed hinges to the newer hinges for the ovens?
Thanks, Jon

ParticipantRe: Ariston XF905 79/22018/00/00 Oven Door Hinges
Excellent. Many thanks for your help, I thought the oven was going to be a write off for the sake of a couple of hinges which would have been a real shame for the customer.

ParticipantRe: Compressor PTC Start Relay. Restart time?
Interesting. So it’s not the PTC that needs to recover, it’s the compressor itself. Is there a minimum amount of time that’s recommended between restarts to be confident the pressures have equalized?

ParticipantRe: smeg di612c light flashing
Light 5 doesn’t flash for an E2 fault, it will be permanently on. Only light 2 flashes.

ParticipantRe: smeg di612c light flashing
Hi,
If the second light is flashing and the fifth is constantly on then you are looking at an E2 fault. It’s quite common. See http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/faul … error.html

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWZ 612 e13
Hi,
I’ve been asked to go and take a look at an AWZ612 with a E13 fault code on Monday and this is the only info I could find. Not sure how to interpret the answer. Is this suggesting it’s possibly a door interlock problem? Any help appreciated.
Thanks,

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FF200LP Fridge/Freezer keeps icing up
That’s a great help, many thanks for the detailed info. The door seal seems ok to me. I’ve done the going round it with a piece of paper test to make sure it’s under tension when you pull it (if there’s a better way to test the door seal I’d be happy to hear about it?). It also passed the 5 minute heater test described. So, it looks like the thermistor. I’ll drop you an email about the alternate part.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FF200LP Fridge/Freezer keeps icing up
Thanks. I must admit the general arrangement of the defrost heater did look a bit crap to me. I’ll search for other posts on the subject. If I don’t find anything useful i’ll probably just attach a bit of stiff copper wire to the heater pointing in the right direction and see if it helps keep it clear.
Cheers, Jon
