Also, check the wiring between the tacho and the control board. I had this problem and the wire had broken off in the back of the motor connector.

Re: Hotpoint Bearing Tool V2 Instructions

Thanks all for your help. The bearing tool I have is slightly different to the one in the instructions, I guess that’s because it’s a later V2 version. It doesn’t have a split ring, but has a variety of other adaptors. Certainly the instructions from Alan suggest how this one probably works so I’ll just have to give it a go. Looks like the instructions for the V2 kit come on a CD looking at the picture of the item on Masterpart.

    Thanks again,
    Jon

    Re: Bosch/Neff Single Thermostat Fridge/Freezers

    Hi Steve,

I haven’t checked the thermostat. The compressor is running and freezer compartment is very cold and quite frosted up. I would guess that if the thermostat was stuck on the fridge would also get too cold? The back wall is more frosted towards the top if I remember rightly, but I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure.

I’m actually looking at two of these which are identical integrated models installed side by side and both exhibiting the same symptoms. They’ve apparently been running for 2-3 years and never been defrosted which I can quite believe looking at the frost build up in the freezer compartments. I’ve checked that all the cupboard vents are clear and at the moment one of the machines is being defrosted to see if that helps. Not sure whether icing up is a problem with this type though as they have no fans or ducts to block?

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB/12 Dishwasher

Just to complete the thread. The problem was with the control board. One of the tracks was burnt off when I opened it up and took a look. Working fine with a new board fitted.

Re: SMEG DWI612C Dishwasher Door Lock

It is indeed broken lugs on the control panel which is the problem so that will need replacing. Is 763735661 the correct part number for the control panel facia with the lugs?

    Thanks,
    Jon

Possibly the compressor overheating and shutting down. Check that all the air vents at the rear/bottom of the machine are clear and that the condenser and cooling fan isn’t all clogged up with dust. If it works for a short while after a defrost that may be because the compressor has had time to cool itself and will run for a little while before overheating again.

May be possible, but I’m afraid I don’t know how to get to diagnostics mode on this machine 🙁

    Hi Tim,

Very confusing, and I’m not an expert so I’m not sure I can help much, but just in case you weren’t aware there is a small (but quite expensive) PCB in these ovens (bottom r/h side looking from the back) which switches the neutral side of the element pairs, l/h fan and base, r/h fan and grill. Could be a red herring, but perhaps worth checking if the relays on the board are stuck ?
