There’s no reason that you shouldn’t do it that way – put something down to protect the front, obviously.
As far as getting the seal, cleanliness is everything.

Re-fit pulley bolt. Use a big hammer to drive shaft through drum. Use said large hammer and a drift (Steel bar) to knock the old bearings out.
I would advise hand and eye protection whilst doing this as a considerable amount of force is required.

PCB corrupted – check mains suppressor and dispenser solenoid as possible culprits.

You don’t have to put it on its face – it’ll all come out through the back. The FUN bit is putting it back together and getting the tub back panel to seal.

13 years is a good age for any washer these days. Bearing set is cheap enough – the actual job is a complete cow if you’ve never tried to do this before.
It depends on your needs – if it’s been no trouble and has been satisfactory to date, why not repair it? However, at 13 years old, lots of things are wearing out together – pump will be past its best and indeed, may be the root of your current problem.
It would be unfortunate to invest some money and a considerable amount of time into solving this problem, only for another probelem to arise in the near future.
I suspect that your real problem is to find a replacement which will give you such long service.

ParticipantRe: What is the prewash for ~ faeces or mud?
You have partly answered you own question. It is to deal with extra soil. Older machine would run the pre-wash prior to the boil programme. Modern digital machines may have pre-wash as a selectable option.
Basically, it will “soften up” heavy soiling ready for the main wash programme – hence, loading powder into both slots in the soap drawer.

Yup, got to be a plumbing issue.

It’s the result of the self diagnostic on start-up – something is out of circuit. Normally this is the motor – does it run under control or does it ramp into spin? Check pump, heater for resitance and connectivity.
Stay safe, power off.

Generic relays are available through Radio Spares, Maplins, Farnells, CPC, take you pick.
Given that my second call Saturday morning was to to a similar machine with no heat, a short length of bell wire was wrapped around the cleaned leg of the relay and soldered into place, then onto the two terminals for the connector.
Hpwever, if you’ve lost the display as well, things may be more serious and a pcb may be required.

CDA dishwashers – SMEG, Whirlpool, Haier, Midea. If you can decide which manufacturer made it, all the basic info is in the Known Error Codes thread.

I seem to recall that you can only fit the single pole cut off now. Connect to live, neutral goes direct. I’m sure there was an old Hotpoint yellow peril about it many years ago.

Dampers are replaceable parts if you are sure they’re shot. P/no 4182 466 48088 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for pricing and ordering.
I would be far more inclined to check the state of the filter, drum to pump hose and any sink coupling. Many vibration issues are caused by slow/poor drainage.
