Re: I got my connect acc WOO HOO 🙂

And therein lies the root of the problem… Sorry Alexa. The ethos is admirable, but where is the maintenance on a packet of Cornflakes? One off sale on a consumable is absolutely fine.

However, an appliance is sold with a warranty, because it is a durable – which is where we come in. 20 years ago, a decent machine cost £300. Had the value of the machine tracked with inflation to the present day, it would now cost £800!

So, what happened? Time has allowed technology to improve (cheapen) the production process, to the stage where the bottom of the range washer today can be bought for £160. This is a retail price, so the machine is being sold twice – manufacturer to Retailer, Retailer to Customer. Ain’t nobody makin a loss, but the margins may be down to a few quid. Paying to have it repaired may exceed the profit margin, so who’s going to get screwed………..? We are, of course. Parts value is fixed, even if minimalised, the only variable is the contract rate payable to the repairers. Given that the Work Provider is taking his cut for this work, we are at the bottom of the pile.

    Comet and Curry’s – I thank you.

    Regards,
    Chris.

    Re: Zanussi FJ1033 bearing removal

Having read this several times, the truth dawns like a 15w bulb.

The FJ1033 is a decent machine, and there it a small testament to it’s durability that it has lasted 12 years to date.

The drum assembly is in two halves, which must be split – therefore the entire tank assembly must be removed to allow you to access both bearings.

To do the job correctly you will need at least a bearing and seal set, a tub centre seal, and possibly a drum support (the shaft on the back of the drum). Any notching, chewing, roughness on the shaft, or marking on the brass collar and this must be replaced as well.

If you are capable of doing this work yourself, it will be cost effective. In the worst instance, it will take an engineer about two hours to do the job, which with parts, will be expensive.

Contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for parts – you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

    Good Luck and Regards,
    Penguin45.

Assuming that the drain coupling is clear (You haven’t mentioned that 😀 ), it can only really be the drain pump….

P/no is C00096072, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk quoting part number will get things moving for you.

Oi! Pat ! Tumble Dryer! 😀

Screeching noises can be the tension pulleys underneath, grinding noises indicate that the support pads at the front of the drum have worn through and it’s now running metal on metal. Providing this is corrected early it’s not too big a problem.

    Hope that’s a bit clearer,

‘Cos the water’s backing up in the bottom instead of draining into the collecting bottle – find the blockage.

Hot water valve fault, Mark. Check harness for continuity, valves should read 64 ohms. Possibly board fault.

    Re: Neff Oven Not Working

Most NEFF fan oven elements are retained by nuts from the rear of the oven wall. Newer appliance can remove the element from the front. Rule of thumb – nut heads at the front – remove nuts from back. Screw heads at the front, remove it from the front.

Power off at all times :plug: …………….
