    Malc,
I have to ask, why was your customer unaware of your charges before you turned out? This situation wouldn’t have arisen with my business as the customer is fully informed before I attend. Should I show a bit of mercy and knock a bit off for being an OAP, the customer is very pleased.

Don’t want to appear negative about it, but I suspect you’ve rather walked into this one.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

The sooner that that mailing goes out and we start getting through to the missing chunk of the industry the sooner that we can really respond to that question. Soon perhaps?

True, M62 can make the M25 look like Imola! Never go near it myself.

Certainly is Ronnie. Part number 1524624-61/4 is what you want and is a kit of goodies. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will set things in motion in the morning. About £70 from memory.

    Regards,

Spent my later childhood there – don’t live there anymore. ‘Nough said? Maybe why I’ve still got an English accent……… 😀

    Re: HOTPOINT 7830

Cap start motor is a drop in – it’s only a two wire feed from the loom, rest is on the motor. Fitted quite a few ceramic screw-on stats over the years and elements – usually as a result of the under filling problem caused by the transfer pipes.

Broken wires went through an almost endemic stage, including, oddly enough, breaking at the metal loom guide on the soap dispenser! The “loose” loom was never too bad, but the bonded plastic strip type caused all sorts of problems.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Re: HOTPOINT 7830

    Hi Graham
65c stat is 7022480, about £24 IIRC, element is 7202256, about £40. Check for broken wiring in door, burnt wiring between safety stat and element, element itself.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Going from memory, I think that this was actually made by SMEG. Perhaps one of the engineers doing SMEG work may know of an equivalent or similar model.

It’s the same as E2 – hours of fun to be had with Smeg and Diplomat posts in this forum.

    Good luck,

Possibly door microswitch on the way out – fiddling can sometimes trip them into life. 50253835-00/8 is the part number, about £3 – spares@ukwhitegoods.com will get one organised for you.

Power off if you’re going to investigate this yourself…….
