There’s a glaring flaw in this – next time you use it, use a different finger to start it.

    Re: Neff dishwasher

A heater circuit problem I would suspect. Is the water heating at the point where it sticks? The timer stops and waits for the thermostat to make the circuit at the right temperature before restarting. By the same token a thermostat failure would lead to lots of hot water, but still no timer advance. Broken wiring in the door also a possibility.

Pull the plug if you are going to investigate :plug:

With the filters removed, and preferably the bottom rotor as well, you should be able to see a couple of openings on the lower side of the bowl. These are where you should be cleaning. Do not use any cleaners, and don’t undo the screws – the bottom will fall off!

There is no need to remove the dishwasher from its housing at this stage.

Scrub away vigorously, you’ll be surprised at what will come out.

Another one…. We never did get to the bottom if this one, it’s popped up thrice now. General concensus among the trade lads was if it still works, leave it alone!

Even the Indy engineers on the site didn’t have the answer………

It’s not the putlet pipe you’re looking for, it’s the transfer pump from the fill matrix. Simplest solution is to give both tubes a good seeing to as you won’t do any harm. Specifically, the one leading off to the right hand side is the one to really work at.

West Brom defence to indulge in a clogging match until someone loses their temper and gets sent off… WB to steal it at the end against the remaining 10 of Arsenal. Punch up in the tunnel to finish. :rotl:

    Well, it could happen……..

It lasted that long? The drum has dropped and is running against the fan chamber housing beneath. Repair is a replacement inner drum with shaft, and a new rear bearing housing. Parts bill came to over a £100 from memory.

This was a well known failure, new Hoover (and Candy) dryers have the modified parts fitted from new these days.

At 5 years old, my honest recommendation would be to replace the dryer.

It’s an educated guess based on many years experience – realistically you need a multimeter and patience to track round the machine for continuity. If you are unable to do this, it’s engineer time.

Check Directories or Repairs@ for someone in your area if you wish to go that route, or safety first if you are going to investigate.

Obvious thought would be the door latch switch – this acts as a master for the entire machine.

Pull the plug before investigating. :plug:

Please count the the flashes from the power light – they will pulse as a group, ie 1,2,3,4, pause, repeat. Also please find the model number – Margherita is a generic for a range of appliances.

    Re: Can you beat this?

You should try extracting objects in Asian households…… The family tend to gather round to watch the show, so “Balti” will produce a bowl and off we go. I am very careful to drain the machine then drop foreign object into said balti or bowl, and shove it towards the assembled group. If they all start giggling, that’s fine and we have the chat about what should and should not be put into washing machines. If it all goes quiet, I just put it back together and collect the money with a very straight face and leave.

    Assuming I’m right, the board is part number C00089074, and it’s about £84 + VAT + P+P.

In view of the expense, a visit from an engineer may be in your own interest; unless you’re a demon with a multimeter. If you are going to investigate further, ensure that the plug is pulled first :plug: .

    Re: How nasty am i?

Let’s be honest here. We run the public forums as a courtesy to the Public who are unaware of the contents of these forums. They might find this side of the site a bit of a revelation. We have threads grumbling about all their little quirks and foibles, their reluctance to pay, the simple fact that we can’t get it through their thick heads that they get what they pay for and all the rest of them.

The Public Forums give us street cred, and the public love it. They think that UKW is honest, open, frank, sympathetic and caring. They consider that this is a damn sight more than they get from manufacturers service and practical advice from the likes of Comet if they wish to purchase.

If you’re in this part of the site, you should have figured out by now that UKW has targets for the indedpendent repair sector. We want properly paid work for the contract lads, we want information, we want spares at a sensible price and a bit of respect from the manufacturers and work providers.

Relatively few of us advise the public. It can be thankless, most threads don’t end in “Thanks” (some do, mmm, nice), but the reference work for the public to access is growing daily. Some try to repair, some accept that it’s engineer time (have you signed up yet?), some say “Here’s a big stick to beat the manufacturer with”. The point is it’s impartial, it has no company/retail bias and it’s free.

We are the good guys. We love you and we want your business, but we want to be fair about it. That’s what the public needs to know.

They don’t need to know that we’re figuring out how to get an extra £5 out of them – Repairs@ does that for me. Lots of lovely AB1’s with money to spend, service more important than cost, speed everything.

Within the limits of my business, we offer small advice. “Put new brushes in my WM62 and it still won’t turn” – “You did release the tabs didn’t you?” is about as far as we’ll go; mainly ‘cos it’s so embarassing to turn up and go ping, ping, £40 please.

We need to keep this going. Within a couple of years, based on the extraordinary rate at which UKW is viewed, there will be only one reputable place to look for info – here. The site will exert influence into the trade as a whole and we independents will start to get our own way. Not tomorrow, but it’ll happen.

Even allowing for Martin, Gegsy and Goatboy. 😆

    I feel better for that,
    Chris.

It’s a heater circuit fault, CW. Almost certainly a control board problem, due to the hit and miss nature of the fault. Heaters, for instance, work or don’t.

Please post up the model number of the machine and we will be able to identify which board may be required (Evo 1600 is a generic).

    Penguin45.
