    Huddy,
Was that price from Indesit or a local independent?

It’s to do with the temperature sensor Vicky. It can be faulty, the connectors can be faulty or the main board itself can be faulty. Engineer time……..

Curiously enough, I went to one which was blocked in Leeds city centre last week. The machine was stood on a 600x600x30mm section of worktop. This was screwed to the floor, and the front feet had been drilled through and screwed to this “plinth”. Cleared blockage and did a rinse and spin (laundry still in) – made the most Godawful noise – BUT didn’t go anywhere.

    Chris.

Sorry Wing, ain’t got the answer to this one. Do you mean the valve has failed (should read about 3.5-4kohms) or the supply to the valve has failed? You can rig the machine to cold (or hot) fill only by splitting the water feed with a “Y” connector, although rinsing in hot water will really set the creases into your laundry.

IIRC, the hot valve is operated by a transistor/capacitor array (along with other low current functions), so if you are electronically mind you could trace the wiring and circuitry back and renew as required.

The valve itself operates at mains voltage, so be very careful indeed or get some pro help.

Sorry I can’t be more specific, but we see very few of these machines over here.

    Re: LG REFRIGERATOR GRT452GVA

    Kezia,
I’ve read this thread several times and admit that I am slightly puzzled. If you know that one door opens when you shut the other, why on earth don’t you check that both doors are shut? Should only take a second.

Dave Conway’s post explained the situation with regards to the Comet guarantee position. A certain amount of cost is factored into the sale price of any appliance to cover warranty issues. By removing that cost, Comet assume all liability for claims in the guarantee period. Presumably they think that they can cover claims for less than LG built in cost. This means that it is nothing to do with LG and is a choice that Comet have made.

There are plenty of refrigeration engineers posting on this site, it may well be a known problem amongst them, so possibly a solution may follow.

In the last resort, contact Comet plc in Hull and lodge a Head Office Complaint. This will put the fear of God into the Service Centre – results ALWAYS ensue. Do this in writing and keep a copy.

    Huddy,
Unfortunately it could be a number of things – not filling, not circulating, drain pump jammed. As you have already admitted to the level of your technical ability, time for the engineers……… If still under warranty contact Indesit; if not check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Re: Pump needed for “Diplomat 8502” Washing Machin

If the pump is making a grating, drilling noise; the pump motor’s rotor is worn in the plastic housing and will become intermittent in its operation.

As it is a low value component I would replace it anyway – check in Shop@ for the part.

Re: Zanussi built under double oven

As this oven is designed as a built in unit, there will be no way to fit feet to it. It will fit a standard (ISO) 600mm unit – you will have to fit the cupboard bottom at an appropriate height to raise the unit to a suitable working height.

Re: Help! WHIRLPOOL Washing Machine stuck mid cycle

Probably blocked Samantha. Switch off, drop the drain hose into a washing up bowl or bucket and gravity will get the water out for you. You will need to empty the container several times before it is fully empty. Depending on which Inspirations you’ve got, there may be a round panel bottom right, there is a filter under it which can be unscrewed and any obstructions removed. If there is no round panel the filter will be in the bottom hose and you will need to get some help.

Check Directories or Repairs@ for a UKW repairer in your area.

Went to a “Dead” Bosch some years back, searching for broken wiring I removed the door outer panel – the mice were nesting in the felt sound deadening and shot off everywhich way………

Serious point – you do need to replace the float, it is a safety feature. According to Bosch, its only available as part of the pressure chamber assembly – p/no 263834, £23.15 + vat etc.
