ParticipantMrs P has just handed me a new Powerhouse leaflet, with a beautiful picture of the new Hotpoint WF865A on the cover. If that’s not an Ariston A1435 in disguise I’ll be very surprised.
Oh well, at least it’s just a crosspiece job when the bearings go……..

ParticipantYou have done the obvious and checked the filter? If the rush of water from the clothes as the motor ramps into spin can’t get away easily, it drags the drum speed down, which can cause the motor to struggle and overload.
Just a thought,

ParticipantWhat? The sunglasses?

ParticipantIf it carries on raining like this, the County Championship will finish up as a tie, despite Martin’s predictions – just about everybody on 12 points!
And the 7 game one day series in the Windies could be resolved with just 360 balls bowled!
Come on God, give us a break!

ParticipantFound a dead Ocean upside down (which was nice) in a back yard in Chapeltown yesterday, so (with the householder’s permission of course!) I liberated the tacho magnet. Problem solved.
Thanks to all who had a view,

ParticipantI had ours done by Designs In Stitches. Properly embroidered Fruit of the Loom sweatshirts, £10 each, inc VAT. This was low volume as well.

ParticipantNice mug – did you tell them to ship it as a spare part or did you have to pay duty on it?
There has to be a way round this!

Bring her with you Mark! Mrs P has a reasonable understanding of what this is about and thinks it’s just another of my harnless eccentricities.

ParticipantThere was a theory some years back about central design, especially as polyprop washer tubs came in for the British machines. This meant that Hotpoint got the conventional oil seal, Hoover got the carbon face/ ceramic counterface seal and Creda got the V seal and wiper plate set up. All the tubs came from Carodan (?) you see…
The Far East stuff however seems to be based on copying. The LG and Samsung machines appear to be based on the Whirlpool tub and casing. This will mean that the design team aren’t “tuned into” what the original designers were thinking.
Hopefully, someone will copy the Zanussi machine and put the spring hangers on the front half of the tub, and the bolts through from the back! Obvious really.
Feeling more cynical than usual,

ParticipantHad a look on the database and no-one is coming up as “WS”. Might be a case of Yellow Pages on Monday morning – see if anyone has a DASA logo or Fairtrades – usually a guide to a reputable trader. If not – Whirlpool, but might be a bit of a bill.
If you DO find an independant, tell him to sign up on this site!
Good luck,

ParticipantCost engineering mate…..
Had to write off an Indesit one this morning – just about every component leaking to earth because of the water leaks. Absolutely hopeless. Took an hour to find out though, mostly due to the amount of demolition required to get into the bl@@dy thing!

ParticipantThere was a thread on this, thinking about it (beer does wonderful things to the memory) – Trade Spares / Hotpoint WM32S.
Also that 0161 numbe above is JUST to deal with bearing failures – it’s not a regular GDA service number.
Personally, I pass them on every time – I’ve got better things to do with my time and my back; AND I don’t have to stand the guarantee. Let’s face it, these aren’t the greatest washers ever made ………

ParticipantGot to be a triac fault at least – poss taken out timer motor? – left it on motor on position?. Old Indesits used to be b@@gers for it!
