The sensor is a flow meter or “Impellor Jug” – p/no 424099. They fail regularly.

Re: WTA Commitee – Elections for 2009/11

An update to the post above.

In addition to the standing commitee to be re-elected:

    Lawrence Carey (Lawrence)
    Bryan Williams (R600A)
    Adrian Whelke (Washdoctor)
    Chris Chantrell (Penguin45)
    Steve White (Aqualectric) ;

    We have a nomination from:

    Barry Munro (Bazza500)

    to join the commitee.

Members are reminded that technically the closing date has passed; however, we are still one member short and this position needs to be filled in order for the commitee to function efficiently and with a fair division of labour.

We would ask all WTA members to stop and consider whether or not they can contribute to the development of the Association and as a consequence, our Trade.

It’s still early days and progress can seem frustratingly slow, but it is essential that we take control and are seen to actively take control, of our future.

Please respond in the first instance to myself:

    Secretary to the WTA Commitee.

Ah – that’s an “Eaton” valve coil. Regrettably the Chinese stuff is a poor imitation. This is one of the few occasions when a bit of cunning artificery (If it’s not a word, it bl@@dy well ought to be… 😀 ) will actually be an improvement on the original!

    Re: Intermittent connection, Electrolux WH838

Old-school electro-mechanical timer on this venerable beastie. Run it – wait until it fails, then, without turning the timer, gently wiggle the programme knob from side to side and up and down. If the pump cuts in or even pulses, the problem is the timer itself.

Had one a couple of weeks ago doing exactly the same thing, except it would run the cottons cycle perfectly and refuse to pump out on the easy care programme. Give it a wiggle and it would.

Given the age of the machine a timer replacement was not a cost effective solution.

Go onto http://www.bshcustomerservice.com/ – click Bosch, then Instruction Manual Download and enter the full eNr number. I have checked and your manual is listed – you can download it for free.

Test meter across the heater terminals should show c.25ohms. If you get that, you can eliminate the heater.

What’s the 546——– number? I can check that out.

Re: Diplomat APM 8552 – No Fill or Function

Original p/no may not be available, but there is usually a superceded number available.

Seems unlikely that both relays would fail together………

Tech info on these has comedy value, I’m afraid to say. I’d struggle to find a general circuit diagram, never mind a board level one.

If acceptable, I will post an up-date in the WTA forum to try and generate some further interest.

Re: Diplomat APM 8552 – No Fill or Function

Doesn’t sound hopeful then. Check the edge connectors for tight and secure fitting of contacts – oxidisation issues are common. Pump out of circuit will prevent the machine from filling.

Third click is the relays on the pcb.

I suspect that you’re looking at a logic problem in the end – these pcbs are notoriously unreliable. If you go for replacement, the number starting 546——– is the part number.

Re: Diplomat APM 8552 – No Fill or Function

Door lock is a function of the mechanical timer unit – everything else is done by the pcb.

Measure the resistance of the two white w/w resistors. These burn out over the years and will give exactly the symptoms you describe.

Don’t live test – it shouldn’t be neccessary for this fault.
