    DI620UK?

Temperature control on this machine is by thermister in the door panel. The only thermostat is a safety cut-off in line with the heater. Thermister is integral with the Bit100 control card. Both are notoriously unreliable.

    You’ll probably need THIS.

Re: No earth connection on replacement oven element

Basically correct. There have been many variations over the years with the elements from Bosch, by and large they no longer have a separate earth terminal.

Ideally, you should remove the oven from the housing, remove the back panel and tie the now insulated earth connection back into the loom with a cable tie.

Obviously with the power off first……

Iadom, Hotpnt and myself have all basically told you the same thing and we’re all professional repairers with years and years of experience. If you want to be told that they’re wondeful and efficient, I suggest you pop into your electrical retailers and have a chat with the sales staff.

Re: Bosch dishwasher door catch broken

Door catch assembly is part number 056218. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.

Door and control panel need to come off. Undo the 6 screws down the inside of the door edges and the panel will lift away intact. Latch clips into place – I recall that there is a locking tongue you need to depress to release the old catch.

    Power off first,

I still have the small PA system from my band days. Would need a couple of stands and mikes to fully recommission, but available if required.

Actually, I still have the 2.5kwatt rig as well – might be a trifle excessive……

Re: Indesit WIDL 102 Flashing LED 3 and Door Lock

This machine does not spin in wash at the start. Lamp 3 flashing is telling you that there is a problem with the tacho generator signalling motor speed back to the pcb. The pcb is turning the motor on and increasing the voltage to try and get a response from the motor. It’s not getting one, so flashing lamp.

Possible problems are failure of tacho coil on the end of the motor, tacho magnet becoming detached, broken wiring on the motor, its connectors or the wiring back to the pcb. The motor itself may be down to earth. Entirely possible that the fault lies on the pcb itself – this is an Indesit, after all.

Removing pcb is a pain. Unplug the pump and disengage all the wires from the pcb box and it should lift up and swing through the back panel.

    Power off first.

Re: drying time of a combo, how much worse?

A typical vented dryer will dry the full rated cotton load in 60-80 minutes. Add another 10-15 for a condenser. If you take a typical Lux Group combi (Electrolux/Zanussi/Tricity Bendix/AEG), this has a dryer setup which works reasonably well. Even so, you will need at least 90-100 minutes to dry half the load. Heavy cotton fabrics such as denim, cordrouy and big fleeces simply will not dry. You can finish them with the iron, but they won’t dry. As for duvets and blankets, forget it.

They’re called “batchelor machines” for a reason – turn two knobs and you can have a clean dry shirt and socks in the morning. If you have any volume of laundry to deal with, the dryer will drive you nuts.

The basic problem is that the drum is too small to get the clothes to fly through the airflow properly.

Finally, you finish up with a machine which is so stuffed full of components, it’s almost inherently unreliable. Given the domination of digital control now prevalent across this industry, any fault detected will stop the wash as well as the dry function, leaving you with nothing.

If you really are struggling for space, buy a compact dryer and wheel it out when you need it.

Re: BOSCH WTA2000 DRYER ONLY ONE HEAT SETTING WORKING

The link shows a double element. The low heat one is permanently on, which is why it has failed and the high heat one still works.

The red button will only click if there is an overheat, which will knock out all heat by breaking the neutral circuit.
