    John,

Test the components… Your customer won’t have the money and you won’t have the time to just throw parts at it ’til it works.

Armature is generating electrical noise and throwing the computer. You can try cleaning the commutator, profiling the brush tips for an immediate better fit or ponying up for the gen BSH carbons.

The motor may be goosed anyway.

Arr… you used to be able to. Last person doing it up here that I knew of was in Featherstone – John Bunting, IIRC. Otherwise, I can’t really advise – can’t even find his phone number.

It is basically a mechanical problem. The pulley was “sweated” on, so the answer is probably heat. Perhaps a local engineering shop might be the easiest solution.

I used to do this regularly on the old AEG motors, using a 30 tonne gear puller. Even with that, you had to occasionally leave it under load, go and have dinner, then come back and scientifically tap the puller before the d@mn thing would break free. Never succeeded with a Bosch one yet. 🙁

    Good luck,

Re: Hotpoint AQXXF 149 Door locked, leaking, blown the fuse h

No, if the tub is holed, the machine is scrap. Hotpoint will not repair the appliance under any sort of warranty as this is classed as user mis-use.

Despite the plastic of the tub being so thin that you can actually see the drum turning through the plastic….

A triumph of marketing over quality I’m afraid – the clothes never did swim like fish, either.

Unplug the machine and drop the drain hose down into a bucket. When all the water has gone, remove the bottom kick panel. On the left is a yellow tag, pull it out and drag it down to pop the door open.

As for what’s actually wrong, I’d hazard a guess that the noise you could hear was a coin or similar foreign body rattling around inside which has now caught and punched a hole in the plastic drum. The water has landed on something electrical and blown the fuse.

Odom – UKW will not recommend, condone or promote live testing to anyone, be they a repairer or a member of the public. It is virtually unneccessary in most circumstances and potentially lethally dangerous.

The posters problem is possibly the door lock; a failed heater or motor flashing back to the pcb will cause the same problem. Motor and heater can be tested with a meter – any damage to the pcb is usually obvious as the tracks will blow off it.
