Decor door off, door outer panel off, then the screws for the control panel. Worth checking the wiring at the hinge pivot point at the same time.

    Power off first.

Remove bottom basket and all filters. Bale out the water. There is a cover plate fitted at the 9-12 o’clock position in the sump. Remove the screw and pull the cover away to reveal the impellor for the drain pump. See if the impellor will turn over easily – it should “ping” round every 1/4 of a revolution. If it doesn’t, there may be an obstruction in the pump chamber or the pump may be knackered. If it’s moving, leave the cover off and select a programme. The first action of any programme is to run the drain pump for about a minute before fill commences. Small objects will be thrown out of the pump , assuming that the pump runs.

Try that and see what happens. Rest of model number would be useful.

Underfilling….. Lid off, left hand side off, door outer off, kick board and lower cover plate off. Remove transfer hose, fill matrix and pressure/fill chamber. Clean hose and pressure/fill chamber thoroughly. Enough water should then enter the machine to allow it to wash properly.

The problem is, Mike, you’re probably right… There may well have been an original designer who believed in the idea, worked at it, played with his various balls until he proved his idea…… found funding…. got it out there in the market place and may now even be receiving the royalties from his patented and legally defended efforts.

Doesn’t make him right, but make enough noise for long enough and people start to buy into it.

You can do it with vacuum cleaners as well, for instance.

Re: LG Direct Drive Machines. Any Good?

The LGs tend to eat drum bearings, this in turn damages the motor.

Panasonic is currently a complete unknown.
