Worn brushes/armature/general motor earth leakage will generate electrical noise and cause the pcb to do spurious things.

Check the heater. If it’s scraping on the bottom of the drum, it’ll get chewed to bits in no time at all.
Find the proper model number and we may be able to advise a bit further.

Probably the selector switch at fault – there was a known issue with them. Part no. 41014502 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply a replacement promptly.
