The error codes are *probably* the same. When you say that the “sump does not correspond” to your machine, do you mean that there is no black mesh in the sump? Does your one have a clear plastic dome showing instead?

Apply some traditional skills……. With the base cover off, look up at the front left corner of the machine. You’re looking for something like THIS CHAPPIE.

Fan motor can be removed from the rear and can be dismantled for cleaning. Don’t forget that the fan itself is retained by a nut with a left-hand thread.

However……. The commonest reason for sluggish running is down to the fan motor getting very hot as it ages and losing its ability to generate enough starting torque to get up to speed.

    Power off first, please.

This is a European model, not a UK one – we have no access to technical information for it, I’m afraid.

If you go onto http://www.bshcustomerservice.com and follow the links into spares you can call up exploded diagrams of your appliance, but that’s as much as you can get….

Rapid wash runs against time. The others run against temperature. The heater is in the up-pipe to the top rotor. It’s almost certainly a safety thermostat which will have failed as the heater would have come on after fill, but with no circulation would have overheated pretty much instantly.

Fill but no circulation? The start capacitor for the circulation motor has probably failed. Can you hear a faint humming noise after fill ceases?

The relay on the pcb is waaaaaay under specced for the load it has to take. The temperature sensor (NTC) is also integral with the board and causes a myriad of problems.

By replacing the heater, (unfortunatley) you have identified the pcb as the culprit as there are only two links in the chain.

By replacing it, you are only starting the cycle again – bear in mind that we repairers think that there is far better product on the market.

Grrr – it was the alternator. Big bill.

It’s all obviously Martin’s fault. He’ll be insufferable now that his beloved Reading have beaten Liverpool.

Cooling fan running? There should be a draught between the control panel and the grill cavity within a few minutes.

I can find no reference to an AWM1863 on the current UK tech disc.

I can tell you that in general terms that all F7 errors relate to the drive motor. Carbon brushes clapped out, wiring, control board are all possible suspects.

Seperate drain pump on this one – no access cover in the sump.

Pull the plug. Bail out as much water as you can. Tip the machine back to a good angle and remove the cover plate under the machine. Drain pump is in the front left corner and is a twist-fit. It’s possible that it’s failed; far more likely that you’ll find a foreign body in there when you remove it.

Rise in water level not detected in the time allowed – it’s a fill problem. If it only happens on one particular programme though, it suggest more of a logic error than an actual fill problem.

Fill level should be touching the salt fill cap if it’s filling properly. Always worth checking the grid in the sump. That’s the water level indicator and is prone to clogging with fatty deposits. These can be scrubbed out with pldnty of hot water and an old toothbrush.
