ParticipantHow many times have we seen all these bright ideas before?
I feel for the engineers, I know a lot of them are struggling to cope with the diversity factor of things and with all the different brands and models as well as lack of tech info, spares, van stock etc (welcome to the real world) from what I was told there are very long lead times for jobs especially with parts orders, countless multiple visits, nobody in the office giving a monkeys and the engineers are also under a very unhealthy workload every day which only goes one way, throw parts at it, get it ber, whatever to get out the house, engineer then goes off sick etc etc
I also heard that Hotpoint have got an agreement and are selling appliances to D and G so when any make or model machine is ber they are supplying and offering installation but only if d and g buy their products, so I should imagine it’s seen as another big revenue stream.
Beko are also taking the D and G work back in house now they’re building their own direct engineers network.
So it looks like a lot of D and G work will be disappearing from the independents, but when they realise it’s a bad idea and cost an absolute fortune I dare say they will come back asking for help!

ParticipantI know it don’t make any sense to me either. But apparently they’re in talks and negotiating sla’s. I will update when I hear anymore.

ParticipantRe: Bertazzoni
I had heard a rumour they had parted ways with gdha…..wondered who would pick up the work. Can’t see that marriage lasting long, I wonder what low rates jtm are offering to fix them?
Out of curiosity If they have “parted” ways with gdha who is now going to make the Britannia cooker for gdha? Because that will be ilve gone and bertazzoni gone both in a very short space of time.

ParticipantRe: Are you busy?
Out of curiosity I wonder if there is a gauge on how the year pans out across the trade like January busy February slowing down march nothing etc and if different regions have different busy and slow times.

ParticipantRe: Qualtex
Lm electrical are qualtex as far as I know. I went into a local branch the other day and saw a load of invoices with lm electrical on them and the lads sorting all the stuff out ready for dispatch. I asked one of the lads and he said that qualtex own them aswell as many others.

ParticipantRe: Looking for opportunities in midlands
Hi, don’t quote me but I heard dalleys (service force) Tamworth are looking as well as the usual suspects, British Gas, know how, and Hoover are also looking. There also seems to be a lot advertising jobs but I don’t know who they are because it’s all through agency’s.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
They’re after another 200 engineers??? I can only wish them good luck with that one! There ain’t that many out there and even if there was are they going to go and then got rid of after the recall is done?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Are they doing the recall themselves? Surely they have not got that sort of manpower for this size recall? If not who is doing it? Poor hotpoint engineers I bet they’re bricking it at the minute especially with the mad season on us!
Those who do recons call hotpoint out to do the backplate under the recall, sure they would love that.

I would check motor and tacho first. Rinse light usually means no signal from tacho.
