ParticipantRe: Candy domestic microwave
You are right Martin, the machine has two PCBs fitted. I have persuaded the customer to accept the erratic control and just go with the new magnetron it needs.
However I will add that if it were mine I would go for replacing the digital encoder just to prove a point. The circuit boards by the way are £383 plus vat plus carriage, now that is an extremely cynical price
Thanks for the thoughts anyway, cheers Patrick

Hi Martin, sorry for the old fashioned tech speak, a pot is a potentiometer, like an old fashioned volume control, just a basic variable resistor, however in this moder day and age of course these things rarely exist, but old farts like me still use the term lol. The device is more likely to be a digital encoder that sets whatever value is required for the operation of the device, normaly in my world its the amount of time required for a function. This is the case with this oven, the control is erratic in its function and the lady is not happy with it.The machine is a Candy MIC305 X, I can let you have the serial number if it helps,
Kindest Regards,
Patrick

ParticipantRe: Freezer not cooling enough
Not really my area of expertise but, first port of call has got to be checking if the condenser fan motor is running, if it has one, and secondly is the condenser clear of dust dirt and fluff. A tell tale sign is usually that the condenser coils are almost equally hot from top to bottom

Stratford Girl.
Thank you for that, it struck me as a director of service that doesn’t really understand his job, or its technical ramifications.

ParticipantRe: Servicenet
As a contractor that carried out a repair job for the bunch of thieving rougues known as go local, when I spotted this post and its threads, I ran a credit check on servicenet. First and foremost the company registered number on the web site is not recognised by companies house. Secondly credit focus gives a company reg no. as 08656243 under the address of 80-90 hatton garden, holborn, london. EC1N 8PN and shows the named director as LAUREN HERON.It bears consideration of alll menbers to actively contact all customers and trade contacts to work against this company being able to take over where it’s previous incarnation left off.
I for one have already started by involving all my trade contacts.PlanB

ParticipantRe: Smeg Built in oven
Hi, many thanks for taking the time to reply, it looks as if the bottom part of the label is missing, Smeg quite unhelpful, servevast website show nearest Engineer 30 miles away and the won’t cover my area. So no help there. I have removed the oven to workshops, If I disconnect the oven temp sensor the display shows off1, so it know the sensor is missing, I have tried other random sensors but non help. I have a situation now where on setting the clock and calling up the oven or grill or fan oven setting the unit kicks off for a rew seconds, and the reverts to power up, ie no clock settings. Its as if the board is unable to hold power to the electronics and therefore drops out. Any thoughts ? If I wanted to obtain a board how do I identify the item ?
Kindest Regards
Patrick
