That sounds good Martin. I didn’t realise they were like that in the washing machines. Is that all new Bosch washing machines or certain ones? When I had a look at the Bosch website just now it didn’t make any reference to this on the technical specs. Would it be a process of calling up the spare parts diagram and seeing which model had what? I haven’t had a look at the Siemens site yet.
Now you mention it there is a Bosch dishwasher on the property which I have had to clear the pump out a couple of times and I noticed then that it has a flow sensor and that seems to cope alright.

Ken, I noted in the ISE service manual that certain programming parameters could be changed. Is water timing part of that?
I’ll try and get a water pressure reading. It must be above 1 bar as the valves are standard AEG although now I think about it the valves in the 80’s were 0.5 bar as I recall so their pressure is probably less than a bar. Sounds like I might have to fit a booster pump! Not sure the supply could cope with that with out air locks. I might need to set up some sort of holding tank with a boost on that.Is being able to adust the water timing something that can be considered for the ISE. I am aware of at least six other small holdings in the area that have low pressure….not quite as bad as this one though I must admit. They have all got older machines that wait patiently to fill up. I’m doing my best to keep them going!

Thanks again Seamy.
Do you know if Miele carbon brushes are easy to get hold of? I haven’t been able to find any type on Connect, Qualtex or Europarts.Poppins
ParticipantRe: Miele W821 W/M Rinse Hold error code
Thanks for that Seamy.
It must be cable then as it doesn’t always have a problem spinning although I will check the brushes as a matter of course anyway.
Do you know if it can be affected by the door interlock as I suspect there is a problem there as it doesn’t always engage when trying to close the door and consequently the ON light doesn’t come on? I was wondering if this could be happening in the cycle. I few flicks of the catch seems to do the trick when it plays up.Poppins
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMA33 screws for brushes.
Thanks for that Jim,
Funny you should say that. I tried a couple of short self tappers yesterday and it did the trick, before I had seen your reply this morning.
Many thanks for your help as always. 😀

It just so happened that I ended up having a look in Aberystwyth 30 miles away anyway as I had to visit another customer who was about 3 miles outside the town. The DIY store there is quite a small one compared to the vast ones in South Wales and England so unfortunately they didn’t have the right screws either.
Does anyone happen to have a couple of FHP screws I could have please? I am happy to send you a postage paid envelope if you PM me your address! Many thanks

Jim, Thank you. I can’t remember what the title was originally
Martin, This is Wales my friend, the nearest DIY store is 30 miles away along a road that you can only do 30 miles an hour mostly…what’s a motor factor?! 😀
Aled who runs my ‘local’ little hardware store (which is 12 miles away)looked at me as if I had brought in a new fangled piece of technology! 😯 Fairplay to them though as they pass a lot of business my way.
At today’s prices it is not worth me driving over 30 miles for a few screws….I was careful how I phrased that Jim. 😆Chris

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMA33
It’s an FHP motor, ‘reconditioned’ by someone but there is only one screw on each brush so that probably explains it as they couldn’t get hold of the screws. I can’t believe I don’t have anything that fits it.
Thanks anyway Jim

Come to think of it though it might be the one for the top loader which is a bit bigger as I recall.

Thanks Jim.
Although it is rusty at the seal I don’t think it has perforated the tub or breached the seal. I suspect it is the seal Phil mentioned. I’m think I might still have one of those in a box hiding! -
