    Hi jaunty,

Yes if you dry the drawer out you will find that the powder will leave the drawer fully on each wash 😀

I use 75ml (or less) of ariel powder for each wash even though with my medium hardness water area it states i need 130ml 😯 . I still have outstanding washing results 😀

    best wishes

How about not using that perfumed grease 💡

Seriously it does your machine and pipes no good at all! Its the colesterol of washing machines :rolls:

    Hi oliver,

You are welcome, glad to have been of some help 😀

I think you, like me, will be fascinated with the seperate drum :rolls:

I am sure you will be glad with your decision 😀

And for you the out of guarantee repairability will be a great advantage plus the spares being of a reasonable price 💡

Just a quick one, I am really amazed because that cotton wash and higher water level with that amount of powder, has removed every trace of copper grease!! A substance that is renownd for being hard to remove, so well impressed 😀

    Hi oliver,

Now doing the higher water level wash for you and by god, what you posted about the more water perhaps having a better result i dont know about yet but the suds 8O. I use ariel, colour in this wash due to my sons black work clothes, but i only ever use 75ml (or less) of powder although in my medium hardness water area i should be using 130ml for even normal soil and the amount of suds with the higher water level is amazing 😯 ( I am getting superb results with the 1607 compared with my old machine :D) The water for the wash part is 2 cm up the glass.

I wont use the 7 rinses however because myself and my son love the smell of ariel :rolls: It takes me back to that lovely homely smell that i can remember from a child, lovely on the pillows and sheets 😳

She is now rinsing. my son has just come into the kitchen saying, “what the hell are you doing?” Me with my bum in the air 😯 , tape measure up against the glass!! Me says, i am seeing how high the water goes up the glass for a chap on the forum 😀 He says, “my god you are sad, always on that forum talking to your cyber friends about washing machines and i can never get on facebook 😡 ” Bet you can guess my reply, something like, kettle and black 😉 Needless to say he wasnt impressed 😆

Anyhow, the water is about 1cm up the glass, this is, of course, with the washing in (trousers, t-shirt, sweatshirt, fleece, socks and a towel)

I am really impressed with the wash result and i am going to use the cotton wash with the higher water level (maybe with the super wash if heavily soiled) for every wash of my sons work clothes. So this little test for you has proved advantageous for me also 😀

    Re: New washing machine.

    ummm,

I would imagine if someone needed (like yourself) to set your machine to permanently do the 5 rinses, then when you press the super rinse button, like you said, the machine would add it to 7 rinses max.

So even with the heavy wash and the super rinse you would still end up with 7. I think that is what you were asking 😕

The heavy wash is a long wash, but i wondered if you did the cotton wash 60o plus H W L and super rinse would the wash be pretty much the same, as this combination (if you are bothered about wash times, i’m not really) is shorter.

Do the higher water level wash tomorrow.

    Re: New washing machine.

    Hi again oliver,

Right what i just tried was this:

Firstly i tried the machine empty and with the damp clothes i just removed being – 2 pairs jogging trousers, 1 pair jeans, 2 t-shirts, 1 towel, 1 flannel, 1 shirt, 3 pairs sock and 2 pairs of undies. And the actual times were the same with and without load.

So loaded with all that damp washing the results are:

    Normal cotton wash at 60o – 131
    Normal cotton wash at 60o + H W L – 131 no increase 😀
    Normal cotton wash at 60o + H W L + 7 rinses – 141 not bad 😀

I will do the higher water level wash tomorrow and see level of water.

I dont know what you think as i am a bit of a layman, well woman, on this sort of thing but there must be quite a lot of water in the machine for it to reach the edge of the door surround on a normal rinse with the drum being so big, or am i being a bit thick 😕

    Re: New washing machine.

PS – the length of the programmes will obviously vary with the amount of washing but i will tell you what is in the load and post the time with and without higher water level and with and without the 7 rinses. I dont really want to set mine up with 5 rinses in case i forget and leave them on there, quite possible with me :rolls:

    ok

    Re: New washing machine.

    Hi oliver,

    Now where to begin…

I did the normal cotton wash yesterday and i think as i mentioned the washer adjusts the water to the amount of washing, which was a small load just for you, the water was about 2cm above the bottom of the drum.

Now, today i am doing a bigger load and the water did run into the machine for longer and the water is at the edge of the door surround.

BUT there are a couple of things that may need to be taken into consideration here, the first is that the drum on this ‘baby’ is massive (inner drum width 44cm) and from the bottom of the inner drum to the edge of the door surround is 8cm, so the amount of water needed to get 1/3 up the glass would be phenomenal. I will do this wash again tomorrow and use the higher water level for you and post the results.

In all honesty, I think in your situation you would really need the higher water lever anyway.

Also, i have re-read my manual and apart from the super rinse option of 7 rinses there is the opportunity to change the settings from the normal 3 rinses and increase the rinses to 5.

    Hi martin,

You have been spying on me 😉 That is exactly what i do 😀

In the end i opted for a zanussi vented because it was a crimbo pressie and also because i didnt want to banish an ise product to the outhouse with my son and his tools out there :rolls: (post in washer section, vented tumble dryer for outhouse)

Thanks for advice, i wont be purchasing in a hurry, not until something breaks down on me anyhow 😉

Wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year Martin,

Just a quick one with a bit of info that may be of interest to anyone thinking of purchasing this dryer. There is a choice of three places (either side or back) where the vent hose can be fitted 🙂
