    Hi Don,

And a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to you 😀

    Thanks for you quick reply.

I must confess to very tentatively using my dyson for this job at the moment, takes ages as i do it slowly a bit at a time in the hope of not clogging the motor. Has worked with regular filter washes/changes but obviously i will need to purchase something else soon. I have infact got 2 older seconhand dyson cyclinder style vacs which have coped for over 8 years, so far i hasten to add 😉

    best wishes

    Hi all,

Cooker being delivered on 21st feb as they were out of stock, it does tell you that it can be up to 5 weeks. It makes no difference to me in that respect as old cooker ok and i can always use the convection part of my microwave 😀

Ah, now that leads me to another question :rolls:

What make of combination microwave oven do you folks on here recommend please? I will be returning mine to argos as i always get their 3 year warranty for microwaves, although the rubbish i bought this time as some faults already within the first 3 months 🙁

    Thanks

    hi all,

I have a multi fuel stove and have minimal amounts of ash from coal as i have an ash pan unlike woodburners. Do you think an ordinary henry or numatic will suffice when i decide to purchase a new vac?

The numatic factory is only 15 miles from me actually 😀

Re: Vented Tumble Dryer for outhouse

    hi all,

Thought i had better do a follow up on the dryer as i am always asking others what the outcome of their posts are and forgot to do my own :rolls:

Had the dryer delivered on tues, i must say the delivery crews from JL are always the nicest of chaps 😀

Have not yet fitted it in its final position as outhouse needs a bit of organisation :rolls: But did a quick test and all seems fine. The one thing i will say is that i was a bit 😕 when i looked at the owners manual, took a couple of reads to get the jist of it, probably just me though! In comparision my ise10 (shes off again 😉 ) was the most simpliest of appliances to master, in fact just a look at the front panel and you more or less have it 😀

Will post anything of interest in due course.

    Re: New washing machine.

    hi oliver,

I would be but i havent watched it 😳 however if you are nice to me i may do for you at the weekend. I would think that the ordinary settings are as most machines nowadays and reduce water so i would imagine that in your position you will need the extra options for clothes, bedding and the such.

As for oil removal etc there is also a super wash option which as yet i have not required but will probably need for the likes of cv crease, gearbox oil :rolls: I was very impressed with the ‘normal’ oil removal at 60o on the heavy option 😀

I do agree that there are a lot of items that will not take a 95o wash, but i would imagine that the people at ise would have spent much time and effort into looking into this type of thing and have decided not include the 75o wash. TBH i have not heard of much call for this temperature among the many washerwomen that i know (sorry but dont know many men who use the machine but i know you are out there 😉 )

This is obviously a personal choice for yourself, but i hope this is of a little help 😀

    Re: New washing machine.

    hi and thankyou martin,

There is only one more thing i can say about the 1607 really and that is its ‘sepercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ 😆

Seriously though, it is an excellent machine all round. I have not used the higher-water-level option or the 7 rinse option yet as at this time of year it would be a waste of water in my case. I will use the higher-water-level option when i wash duvets usually do each one at least twice a year.

The only problem i can see is that the 1607 does not have a 75o wash which oliver says he requires (why is this, if you dont mind me asking?) I find a 60o using a heavy wash is more than sufficient for my sons work clothes (he is a mechanic and is like an oil and dirt magnet :rolls: )

The machine is very sturdily built and modern looking, it is a commercial carcass so built with that use in mind. Not having one of those horrible conventional door seals fitted is a brilliant idea and the way that the carcass is seperate from the drum so it is moving independently is fascinating to watch (thats prob me being sad :rolls: )

I havent studied the various wash times in much depth as they do change with the weight of the washing 😉

    Re: washer/dryer recommendations please..

I am glad to hear it, if that is indeed their practice when the fault code is from a blocked drain pump or such that isnt covered under guarantee in the first instance. The customer would still have to wait for the engineer to come and do this even if it is free, as i was told the machine will not run until a fault code is removed, is that correct?

Obviously being a miele dealer you will know more than me, but i had 2 years to decide on a good washer and in the end, after checking out a lot of angles and reading and hearing reports from present and previous miele customers, i decided to purchase the ISE10. The machine is fantastic, the people at ISE will do whatever possible to help their customers (believe me i know) and their ideas and practises are very encouraging in this day and age of throwaway products. My main reason for not buying a miele was the parts mark-up after guarantee which is common knowledge, (i had an older miele myself and found parts expensive, but it was the newer models that worried me with the need for a diagnostic tool which most local engineers dont possess, several engineers in my area said they wouldnt even consider repair of the newer models) After i had already decided not to purchase a miele i was given a couple of examples of parts mark-up and i was quite appalled.

I know that miele make quality products, like i said, i was on the brink of purchasing until i prodded a bit further into the things most people dont even think about, like you said most people get their 10 years or a bit longer and are happy. I want to make mine last as long as possible for as little money as possible and to do my ‘little’ bit for the enviroment, maybe i am a silly woman but, excuse the pun, ‘every little helps’ 😆

This is all IMHO. If like to say, a person only wants their 10 years then i suspose its ‘swings and roundabouts’ really. Personally i do like the more ‘modern look’ of the ISE10 tough.

    Re: washer/dryer recommendations please..

I beg to differ with DrDill, i have no intention of just dumping mine after 10 years, i had an indesit for 17 years 😯 and i know exactly what i paid for it 23 years ago!

If there was an expensive fault but the rest of the machine was still looking ok then i would get it fixed, these (ISE10) machines are made to last with spares being as cheap as possible and more easily fixed than a miele. That £100+ would be for fault codes to be removed ‘within’ guarantee as well because the drain pump being blocked is not covered. If pump was blocked on my ISE and i fixed it myself then i can remove any present fault code myself too, so as jimmy saville would say, ‘hows about that then’ 😆

The ISE10 is designed to last 8000 washes, thats 22 years at my usage, so time will tell. I will keep y’all posted, if the machine doesnt ‘outlive’ me that is :rotl:

stevefisher – hope my ramblings have been of interest, have a read of the ISE website and you will see why i was ‘tempted by the fruit on offer’ 😉

    Re: washer/dryer recommendations please..

    Hi stevefisher,

I recently purchased a ise10 and it is by far the best washing machine that i have owned (and i’ve had a few :rolls: ) and their aftersales service is exceptional.

I too had considered a miele but, thankfully, after visiting washerhelp, found a link to ISE as i had heard about miele’s practices as mentioned by kwatt, very high part prices after any guarantee has expired (also if the purchaser is not careful to check, miele guarantees are not always available, they are used as a marketing tool, unlike ISE products which always carry a 10 year domestic guarantee) and then comes the problem as kwatt mentions, i read the call out for the fault codes to be removed even after you have say unblocked a filter yourself is £130 and most local engineers wont or cant fix newer model mieles as they require a diagnostic tool just to get rid of these fault codes!

I for one did not intend to pay £900+ for a washer just to line mieles pockets again somewhere down the line!! And they look damn old fashioned IMO too!

The ISE10 1607 washing machine is a superb bit of kit (read my previous posts) that ‘does what is says on the tin’, looks modern and very importantly, if maintenance or repair is required, is easy to fix with no mark-up on parts (unheard of in this day and age)

Just the opinion of one very 😀 customer.

I have also just purchased a vented zanussi tumble dryer for my outhouse details in my post (Vented tumble dryer for outhouse) as i will not be using the dryer much. If i had a higher usage i would have certainly have purchased the matching ISE10 dryer also with a 10 year domestic guarantee 🙂

    sorry rambled on there 😳

    best wishes
