    hi martin,

You are right, most people dont read the manual front to back, i usually do when i buy something new.

I have not read the ‘spin unbalance’ bit in any of the machines i have previously owned but i would suspect i am behind the times here and that new machines do mention this, (glad to hear this) however being in the trouble shooting section that usually doesnt need to be read (in some peoples opinion) until such time as they may have mislead the manual :rolls: I think this is such a common occurance nowadays that it should be included within the spin cycle section, thats IMHO anyway. Personally have a drawer where all such paperwork goes, in fact i recently found a manual from my old twin-tub, long since gone to ‘washer heaven’ 😉

    Hi springnuts,

There is an interesting read above by Dave-Conway on this very subject.

As you can see washers can be pretty clever 😀

I advised a friend of mine to read this ‘sticky’ as she was always moaning that her machine would not work when she put a hand washed item in for spinning :rolls: I had a difficult time trying to explain it to her so told her to read what the experts say!

There are several posts on here regarding the same ‘phenomenon’ so you arent alone. I dont understand why most washer manuals dont mention anything about ‘what can happen if you try to spin single items etc’ :rolls:

Re: Vented Tumble Dryer for outhouse

    hi gandh1,

Thank you for that, i will bear the temperature thing in mind although when it is cold i will have the fire in so wont use the dryer anyhow.

I know not to overload the dryer, i would never take a full load from a washer and expect to dry it successfully. It will be used very rarely in any case. A finish off dry rather than a ‘dry from wet’ TBH.

I have never had a seperate dryer before, just my old indesit washer/dryer (lasted 17 years 😯 ) and i only used the dryer bit 3 times in total!!

TBH a tumble dryer isnt a thing that i would have purchased myself because as mentioned above it will have little use, so i decided it would make a good crimbo pressie rather than the ‘same old’ ….

    Hi,

I have just ordered the belling cooker from John Lewis.

I am quite nervous about having an electric cooker after 23 years of gas 😕

Re: Vented Tumble Dryer for outhouse

I am having the zanussi dryer delivered next week from JL as it was within the price range for a crimbo pressie 😉

If i had any intention of using the dryer more (it will have to be in a real emergency as i am very reluctant to use electricity for drying clothes!) then i would definitely have saved for the ise10 dryer as they are in a class of their own (as is my ise10 washer 😀 ) Also i wouldnt want to banish an ise product to the outhouse 😥

    Re: Are Belling still British

Cooker is ordered from JL with the 5 years warranty for £499 inclusive and arrives within 5 weeks, no hurry for me as old one still going ok. (I will be keeping the old bottled gas cooker, no way will it be dumped) May be recycled as a barbecue 😆 (actually 💡 )

Will do a short review in due course.

    Hi all,

I havent had time to read the posts lately, but this is the sort of one that i like 😀

When you think if petermaughan hadnt posted on here then he wouldve been wasting his time replacing bearing as well as being out of pocket and the dryer may well of joined the ever increasing whitegoods ‘graveyard’ makes you realise what a fantasic site this is, full of knowledge and advice which is FREE (almost totally unheard of in this day and age!)

Oh and Helo-75 to the rescue (again)

    You guys :rolls:

    😆

Hope ya’all had a good christmas. Mine was spent running around after everyone else as i was the only one who didnt have the flu :rolls:

Still ‘loving’ my 1607. It washes sooo much better than any other machine i have ever owned (even got rid of some very stubborn white deodorant marks from my sons black work t-shirt, that i had given up trying to scrub off!)

    Wishing ya’all a very happy and prosperous 2011 🙂
